Anytime Daniel Jones wants to run for 80 yards

Essex : 10/23/2020 10:07 am
but fall down on the 7 yard line--you can sign me up for that. Just wanted to be on the record as saying that, when these morons on social media are comparing it to the butt fumble. How many Jets fans would sign up for the butt fumble play to repeat itself. Man, social media stinks some times.

I recall the team scoring a touchdown on that drive. Am I wrong?

I think he will actually work on finishing those runs.

Neckbeard fatasses who couldn't sprint 10 yards, much less 80.

he will, but the ridicule is just silly. These idiots who sit at home who probably could never be good at any sport at a recreational level are making fun of a man who one of the best runs ever for a qb and his team scored on that drive. I just feel more stupid every time I hit a social media app.

He wont be running as fast then. He straight up took off and didnt look back. Dead on sprint. He isnt used to doing it and getting away from NFL players isn't easy.

No, they scored.

i thought we weren't going to score a TD there, but we did. Ended up not making a difference.

Exactly. He's probably like "why is no one near me?"
That designed run won't work forever
David B. : 10/23/2020 10:21 am : link
Relying on that is unsustainable, and eventually it's gonna get him killed.
Comparing in
cokeduplt : 10/23/2020 10:22 am : link
To the butt fumble is moronic. 80 yard gain or turnover
I think he reached for a 7th gear that wasn't there haha.
bigblue5611_2 : 10/23/2020 10:24 am : link
Awesome to see though and he reached 21.23 MPH, fastest for a QB since 2018 which is saying something considering Lamar Jackson is playing.
At least he didn't run the wrong way.
Angel Eyes : 10/23/2020 10:24 am : link
That's the Vikings' "don't want to watch" play.

It seems to keep working and he hasn’t been close to getting killed.
It's going to be made fun of
Mike from Ohio : 10/23/2020 10:27 am : link
No it is not the butt fumble because it was still net a very positive play and it didn't cost them points. But you can't expect people not to laugh at it. It is objectively funny if you aren't a Giants fan.
21.23 mph ... is better than 10 yards/ sec.
Spider56 : 10/23/2020 10:30 am : link
How many people, or NFL QBs specifically can run that fast? People need to think about that before making comments. I doubt he’s sprinted that far in a long time if ever ... He played a solid game and deserved better support at the end.

They don't all have to be the same design.

They can also be improvised runs.

Its pretty obvious at this point that waiting for the 3rd read to get open is less effective than just taking what the defense is giving him.

Plays like that are unsustainable if they become a core part of the offense. A run or two a game like that is sustainable.

Heck, people talk about Murray and Jackson doing it weekly and wonder why we can't, then when we do, it still gets shit on
I'm just glad for Jones
LawrenceTaylor56 : 10/23/2020 10:34 am : link
that they ended up scoring a TD that drive. The hot takes would have been brutal if we ended up kicking a FG and losing the game because we didn't score a TD.
When an NFL Player Runs 80 yards...
Jim in Tampa : 10/23/2020 10:40 am : link
and then proceeds to stumble and fall at the 10 yard line with an open field ahead of him...it's going to be a featured video clip...especially the morning after when our game was the only sporting event that day.

As I said on another thread...if Jones turns out to ba a franchise QB for the next 10-15 years the play will mostly be forgotten. If Jones fails as a starting QB, the play will forever be featured on his blooper reel.
Jones basically admitted he outran his legs. Anyone ever been in a
Blue21 : 10/23/2020 10:50 am : link
footrace and done this? He was just too excited with nothing but endzone ahead. Better to be caught from behind than fall like this. But he is fast. No one could catch him. He'll learn from it. That play is the least of our problems. Only two or three other QB's could do this. Most would have been caught at the 50 or sooner.

Like the rest of the team, I was chuckling as well.

It was a great run.... one of the best runs I ever saw from a Qb & it set up the TD & pumped up the team!! Anybody making fun of that sprint probably never played the game & is a moron!
I see no need to defend Jones. He did well. Eli would have been

falling was funny, but non issue

he was flying

So you think only a moron would make fun of an athlete running for a touchdown but then simply falling down on their own?

You must be a barrel of laughs.
HOW ON EARTH

Does DJ run a 40 in 4.8 at the combine. He must be a 4.45 guy. He was outrunning cornerbacks.
FWIW on the SPN morning show (which I cant decide if I like or not)
Bill L : 10/23/2020 12:10 pm : link
the new, non-sports guy led with it as the most embarrassing NFL play ever, was pretty much talked down from that by the football guys (Keyshawn and Bart Scott). The explained it in such a way as it's perfectly understandable how and why it happened.
when you're running for your life you pick up
gtt350 : 10/23/2020 12:11 pm : link
a couple of tenths
I know it is funny to watch for the national shows
Matt M. : 10/23/2020 12:13 pm : link
and it is highlight reel material in a mocking way. But, really, it's not all that embarrassing. This is a QUARTERBACK who outran the D for 80 yards. He is not accustomed to runs like that. If he tripped over the yard marker at midfield, that's embarrassing. But, he was gassed and his legs and balance just gave out. He has nothing to be embarrassed about on that run. If anyone should be embarrassed, it's the Philly secondary who got burned by a QB.

It takes him a bit to get up to speed ... here’s the breakout.

Had Jones scored
NINEster : 10/23/2020 10:13 pm : link
it would have been the third longest TD run in NFL history behind Terrelle Pryor (93 yards) and Kaepernick (90).

Pretty impressive however you cut it.

I had no idea he was that fast.
Do you guys remember that famous run by Steve Young vs the Vikings?
BestFeature : 10/23/2020 10:26 pm : link
He got in the end zone but he was stumbling in the end too. It was a more difficult run but the last 5 yards or so he started tripping with no one around him, if he was 59 yards from the end zone and not 50 the same thing would have happened to him.
