Please refrain from saying 3 or 2 or 1 year(s) ago.

Before i answer, what makes you think Gettleman
LBH15 : 10/23/2020 3:57 pm : link
is the best person to assess the scouts?
Well I assume he has their evaluations and actually reads
NYRiese : 10/23/2020 4:06 pm : link
them and has their historical records, so he has it in writing.
He can either blame himself or blame the opinions of the scouts.
I am assuming the records are property of the NYG

Blame him for what?
What do you gain from firing the GM
Gman11 : 10/23/2020 4:22 pm : link
in the middle of the season? It won't affect the won-loss record.

Head start on hiring like the way WFT beat us to Rivera?
Assuming Gettleman once had a fastball...
bw in dc : 10/23/2020 4:25 pm : link
as a GM, which I am told so by gentleman such as FMiC, has there ever been a GM who has lost his fastball this badly?

His last year in Carolina, Ole Resume Dave was 11-5.

In his three years as our GM, he's got 10 wins.

Making sure he doesn't make anymore stupid trades and give draft picks away.
Maybe DG just needs a new job title like
LBH15 : 10/23/2020 4:35 pm : link
Senior Executive - Head of Analytics

Or
NYRiese : 10/23/2020 5:11 pm : link
head of scout cleanup.
The only reason why they should fire Gettleman
Jay on the Island : 10/23/2020 5:43 pm : link
is if they already know who they will replace him with and know that this person will accept. It would also likely increase the chances of Kevin Abrams becoming the new GM.

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. First, do no harm. Second, it will probably make Judge less beholden to him. I think that's the major reason why Thomas is still at left tackle, and not Peart. We can also assess the whole team without any bias from the 'GM'. Plus we can start evaluating college players in earnest as well, like Fields tomorrow. Getts may direct the scouting department to go elsewhere, for all we know. "Don't bother watching the Ohio State game, there's nothing to see there. We already have our QB of the future."

But that's not the Giant way. So Getts will likely keep his job till after the season is over. Maybe even beyond that.

Giants sacked Reese and McAdoo during the season. The Giants way is simply to replace Gettleman with Abrams and still have the Maras (John, Chris, and Tim McDonnell) involved in personnel.
