Do other coaches take so many Time Outs on Defense?

Black_Flag : 10/23/2020 3:57 pm
The way Judge calls so many on defense it's almost like the NBA or something.

once upon a time I wish Giants would have done it more to give D's a chance to catch their breath and bring in different packages etc. and stop opposing offenses from just using the hurry up and driving down the field. But now that I see coach Judge doing it -- it seems kinda dumb. 20 seconds and a time out or two at the end of a half or a game, seems like a valuable thing to have. At least if you complete a big pass play, you give yourself a chance to kick the go ahead FG.
Worked last night before the pick

by Wentz. I dont mind it in first half or with a defense that can actually hold a lead
no but

other teams offenses stay on the field longer :)
You can't.cash them in at halftime.

Might as well use them.
Yes and it seems obvious

When the other team is running down the clock to score with no time left, and the clock is not a limiting factor in the other team scoring (the Eagles had over a minute inside the 30), you are going have to stop and not run out the clock.

So, you use TOs to preserve time on the clock in case you need it on offense.

Seems like a no brainer.
Pretty sure he took one defensive time out

after seeing the formation that the Eagles were using. Very much like some basketball coaches do.

Some idiot on the game thread said he used it because they were planning on eagles scoring and it was a defeatist attitude. Like no idiot, but if they do score it puts you in the best position to get points back.
Everyone who meets JJ consistently says they learn more about

Yeah, of course it is a different story if you think you can run out the clock without them scoring...but if they have lots of time and time outs, you don't just let them decide when the game ends.
I thought his TO right befre halftime was a great move

Gave the D extra time to rest since they were getting pushed around in that drive.
It's the only way this D can get a breather. They just can't get off

the field on third downs. Problem is that hurts the offense if they need them.
For the most part...

clock management has been excellent.
Did you even watch the game?
