That was brutal!

Grey Pilgrim : 10/24/2020 8:37 am
I dvrd the game and watched it last night. I thought I saw some spoilers online in the Giants Favor...needless to say I was unpleasantly surprised when we lost!

TBS The Giants are playing hard and competitively. I can't really ask for much more with this roster.

TBS2 Engram needs to be traded or cut.

Ugh, I should have warned you off.

Worse than brutal.
this is a reasonable summary

My hate for the Eagles is unhealthy.

Why can we beat this fucking team? Are we just unlucky, snake bit, bad players, bad coaching, or just plain jinxed? Is it mental, physical, not prepared, what the fuck is it?

I’ve been suffering through these brutal losses since 1978 with the Joe Pisarcik fumble, and it hasn’t gotten any better 42 years later!

I’m about to wave the white flag,. I can’t take another another agonizing loss. Why can’t we beat this team?

The psychology of results.

A few years ago when I was researching for my articles on the 1980s Giants I found a great article in the Washington Post where Joe Gibbs discussed the Redskins frustrations with the Giants. The reporter had asked Gibbs why Washington, one of the dominant teams of the era who regularly beat other good teams like the Bears, seemed to play uncharacteristically bad football whenever they faced New York. Gibbs gave a long, thoughtful answer which explained that with ther recent history of losing to the Giants lingered in his players minds. When they faced the Giants they expected to lose. When there were key, high pressure moments in games, they expected bad things to happen. They'd make mental errors that were atypical of they expected performance. It built on itself and eroded their confidence.

There is no doubt in my mind this has been going on for the Giants when they face the Eagles. It's been this way for years. They are badly in need of an exorcism.

That makes sense except no one on the present Giants' team has been around long enough to actually feel this way.

Is there a single player on the Giants roster who has ever been on the winning side of an Eagles game? It hasn't happened since 2016!
When we took the lead 21-10, I really swtiched between
GiantBlue : 10/24/2020 11:28 am : link
happiness and that feeling in the pit of my stomach that they Eagles were going to rip the heart out of my body again in a new and different way.

As I watched and watched, it was getting more and more apparent that the Eagles....filled with retreads, practice squad and back-ups to back-ups were going to yet again rise up and find a way to beat us.

I thought Judge and Garrett would be different, but it isn't the coaches. It is the Giants. We don't have guys that can stop that express train that is the Eagles in the last 6 minutes of a game.

We don't have those guys...starting with Engram....these rejects at CB (minus Bradbury) and Peppers.

I am still so frustrated by this organization. Until we are able to beat Philly and Dallas, this team will be looking at the top of the draft for years to come!
it was brutal but the only things that matter are Judge/Jones

and both performed really well. That should/will eventually lead to wins if they continue doing what they each did on Thursday night.

There are no moral victories in defeat but there are things to build on that will lead to real victories in the future. There was real progress with the offense for the first time this year and Philly's D was reasonably healthy (Cox, Slay, McCloud, Graham, Barnett etc).

I think it has to do more with too high expectations from fans. Let's face it Joe Gibbs teams were going a lot against the Giants greatest era since the 50's early 60's.

Giants teams were probably just "better."

The same with Philly- they've just had better teams along with better coaching and better GM's. OFC we can point to the Super Bowls but those Super Bowls were also the result of getting hot and riding momentum. Over the long haul these last 15 years - Philly has just normally put out better teams.

I think it's more Giants fans that overrate the talent or coaching on their team, or underrate the opponent in similar manner.

Same feelings Tittle. I hate them more than the Cowboys which feels nearly impossible to me. Living outside of Philly doesn’t help. My neighbors/coworkers are so smug with their confidence in beating us. It’s infuriating.
