Our friends over at the Great Blue Draft Report have generated their 3rd 2021 NFL Mock Draft. Given the state of our poor New York Giants, it's NEVER too early to take a peak.
Right now, GBN has the Giants going #4 with QB Trevor Lawrence (Jets #1) and OT Penei Sewell (L.A. Chargers #2) off the Board by the time we pick. I don't see us picking lower than #2, but ya never know -- maybe we get on a real hot streak and plummet all the way down to #4.
FYI, GBN has OT and DE and the two most frequent positions selected in Round One:
OT 6
DE 5
WR 5
QB 4
CB 3
OLB 2
DT 1
FS 1
G/T 1
LB 1
OG 1
RB 1
TE 1
Alabama and Clemson lead the way with 5 and 4 players respectively:
Alabama 5
Clemson 4
Ohio State 3
LSU 2
North Dakota State 2
Oregon 2
BYU 1
Florida 1
Florida State 1
Miami 1
Michigan 1
Minnesota 1
Penn State 1
Pittsburgh 1
Purdue 1
Stanford 1
Texas 1
Virginia Tech 1
Wake Forest 1
Washington 1
One reminder -- as GBN Notes:
"...the primary objective with a mock at this time of year is not to try and predict which player which particular team will select next April. Rather... to give folks some idea... where individual players would be selected if the draft were held this week."

First it was guys I watched when I was a kid having kids that come into the league now it’s guys I watched after I was married and my kids were born. It’s amazing how fast time flies
He is very strong but not so sure he will bully NFL DBs the way he does college DBs
To me, he is a guy who has to run close to the 4.40 he has supposedly clocked to be taken at #4. I see him much more as the next Hakeem Nicks rather than the next Julio Jones.
But maybe getting the next Hakeem Nicks would not be so bad

Funny you mention Hakeem Nicks! That's exactly who I think of when I watch Ja'marr Chase.
Everything I read about this kid... He seems to be exactly the type of person and player Joe Judge and Patrick Graham would want.
And after Lo Carter suffered his torn Achilles, Graham may fill a desperate need at SS OLB, with flexibility to play ILB, WSLB, ER...
Or Ja’Marr Chase
It's a real bummer we won't get to watch him or Rousseau this year though.
Maybe an organizational shift in draft philosophy will open up the possibility of a trade-down - but obviously we're a half year away from that.
Would love a stud lb, Micah project as having Er ability too?
This off-season is about purging ALL the garbage (players, contracts, GM, FO, Scouts) and acquiring great young players (Draft, key UFA signings like with Bradberry, Martinex). We will have cap space despite Covid to re-sign whomever we want from our team and to dump contracts like Solder, Tate, Zeitler and Engram.
In my mind, if we received say a #4 for our #3 plus next year's #1 and a #2 this year, no way we pass on that kind of haul given all of our holes.
We need ER, WR, DB help the most, perhaps.
Inclined to agree. He was an elite talent coming out of PSU, but the production on the field has not matched the hype.
I am with this too. But I dont know how high he should be drafted. I dont think he is twitchy like Jaylon Smith. But if he is stout enough to play the run, can cover and also rush the passer, he is my choice as he would make the 2nd level awfully tough to go with the line
This is quite a deep draft at WR. But taking a size, strength, speed guy high would give us our best look at who Jones is as a QB. I dont see the Julio Jones comparisons as he isnt as big. But Hakeem Nicks I can see. You put a guy like that out there with Slayton and Shephard and Jones is out of excuses.
I say this because I'm not convinced that the due diligence has been paid to these players quite yet and the names we see today will not be there in a few months.

Thats exactly who Chase reminds me of, but he isn't as good a run blocker as Nicks. Runs great routes and very physical and smart player. Agree about the year off should drop his stock a little.
Bradley Chubb in 2018
Josh Allen in 2019
we were a pick late for Chase Young in 2020 but we would have already had Chubb and Allen : )
If the Giants don't go for Parsons in 2021 -- they are chasing fool's gold -- this team isn't going anywhere without an impactful Edge Rusher - that's Giants football
I would sign another vet CB in FA to play opposite Bradberry as opposed to drafting one in the 1rst round this year
Draft a WR and a DT with Round 2 and Round 3
enough of ignoring the Defensive rush - think about it -- when Eli was drafted the Giants had Strahan and Osi on the roster - and then picked up Tuck and JPP
When they picked up Jones they had bupkus at the edge -- and still do
they have Lawrence who I think is great but he's not a rusher -- they are going to give up Tomlinson who is also not a rusher so he needs to be replaced -- and Williams is going to eat the cap
no need to pick a WR in the first round in a WR rich draft -- just don't completely ignore it like we did last year
I knew the Giants were going to pick up Barkley -- and he's a great player -- but let's face it -- the Giants need a Devonta Freeman for power football not Barkley
I'm okay with Jones at QB -- but damn -- Chubb and Allen would have set us up beautifully going into next year ---
given 4 years of dismal football - what would have given you more hope -- having Chubb and Allen on the team or Jones and Barkley? My choice would be Chubb and Allen

Me, I just don't understand why Gettleman has ignored the edge rush for three drafts now. What's really galling is that he's been around the Giants long enough to know how well we do with one and how badly without one, yet ignores it.
