1. Old School (aka 2019 49ers) - Take a lead, then "poke a hole in the football"; translation pound the ball through an exhausted defense.
2. New School (aka 2019 KC Chiefs) - "Pedal to the metal"; Be confident enough to be willing to keep taking deep shots in a frenzied shoot-out
The Giants don't have the horses to do either. It starts in the draft, they took Andrew Thomas, arguably the 20th best player with the 4th pick, overall. There were NO Quenton Nelsons (who was 1st or 2nd best in the 2018 NFL Draft) - If you want to go Old School.
If you wanted to go New School and wanted to secure a game-breaker you had your choice of CeeDee Lamb, Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs. (I would have gone for Ruggs; having the gaping hole created by shipping OBJ to the Browns).
So ... we're back to "square one"; "wait till next year", OK.
mediocre teams find ways to lose games. Is he referring to the Giants? I think there is a long way to go until this team moves up from worst in the league to mediocre.
If only
mediocre teams get tired from getting beat up all game

I think the vast majority of people misuse mediocre as meaning bad rather than average.

obviously in 20/20 hindsight we would have made different picks over the last 3 years.
