If done properly, nothing beats pretty much any fruit pie. Just as with Key Lime Pie, bad Cherry Pie can be really bad. Usually I find them too cloyingly sweet. I like Blueberry, Key Lime, Peach, Pecan, Pumpkin, and Strawberry-Rhubarb to put them in alphabetical order.
Key Lime takes the #1, Lemon Meringue also up there ( I live tart and sweet, also prefer lighter citrusy deserts that are more on the refreshing side).
Next I’d go apple/peach combo cobbler, best of both.
a lot. But my brother went to Syracuse and on our way home I would always stop at Bingham's in PA. They've got great pie.
My preference from there:
Chocolate peanut butter, caramel apple crumb, pecan, Strawberry Rhubarb
RE: ranked last is the cream pie I get in the face at the end of every
chocolate cream pie is absolutely number 1. No chocolate cream pie I've gotten from any other source is worth a second bite. A good apple pie is next, and I emphasize "good".
If so, my favorite "pies" are berry tarts with a vanilla creme patissiere holding the berries onto a classic buttery and crispy short pastry shell.
Strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry doesn't matter which. Had to be made within the past 4 hours, otherwise the pastry cream ruins the tart shell.
Sweet Potato
Chocolate Chess
Apple
Peach Raspberry
Savory?
A place n Kennett Square, PA makes a Red Thai Chicken Curry pot pie which is the best pot pie I've ever had in my life. (The Chocolate Chess and Peach Raspberry above are also from the same shop)
But my wife does a Strawberry Rhubarb crisp for larger gatherings that is out of this world (especially with a chunk of French Vanilla Ice cream on top while it's still warm)
Boston Cream
others.....
FWIW, Good Key Lime is good, most are way, way too sweet.
Pecan
Peach
They make a cherry pie to die for.
Amazing! I try to go there once a week for my apples, veggies and other stuff.
But my true passion is their pies. So based on their pies:
1. Cherry
2. Apple
3. Blueberry
4. Strawberry-Rhubarb
5. Raspberry
If you are every by the Morgantown exit of the PA Turnpike, get off and take Rt 10 North about three miles.
There is a big sign for the orchard.
Choc mousse

3. Blueberry
4. Cherry
Then whatever else, I'm not picky
2. Apple Crumb
3. Pumpkin
