Coach Joe Judge said Xavier McKinney is progressing. Judge sees him in the weight room, and the rookie does a good job staying engaged in meetings.

Why is he out in LA. Is there anyone better than James Andrews for doing this surgery

Kerlan-Jobe Clinic would be my guess.
I can’t wait

to see McKinney play. Hopefully he makes Peppers expendable in the near future.
Dr Andrews
Mark in ATL : 10/27/2020 12:42 pm : link
If you are speaking of Dr Andrews specifically for Barkley’s ACL surgery, he is 78 years old and I’m not sure how many and what types of operations he is still doing. ACL injuries are so common for athletes now that you can find experienced surgeons in most cities. Obviously Barkley and somebody like OBJ are at a much higher performance level. Almost as important as the surgeon is the physical therapist and athletic trainers they will be working with after the operation.

When is McKinney expected back? After the bye week?
Confirmed: Dr. ElAttrache at Kerlan-Jobe...
Big Blue Blogger : 10/27/2020 12:45 pm : link
...will perform Saquon’s surgery. Rapoport tweeted it a few days ago.

Best facility in its class, by most accounts.
Looking forward to seeing McKinney.

Yeah... "McKinney is progressing" doesn't really tell us anything.
L.A. is home base

Besides,he can get it done the same time as Beckham

Why did Barkley
pjcas18 : 10/27/2020 1:30 pm : link
wait for his surgery?

Didn't he injure his knee week 2?

Had to wait for swelling to go down I believe. I haven't seen anything officially reported but I don't believe it was a simple ACL tear and nothing else.
Swelling in the knee
Mark in ATL : 10/27/2020 1:35 pm : link
The surgery can’t be done until the swelling goes down though 4+ weeks does seem a bit long.

He strained his MCL too, and had to wait for that to heal.

He has to wait until after the World Series. Dr. ElAttrache is the head team doctor for the Dodgers and he’s in the bubble until the end of the WS.
McKinney better look like a pro bowler

As an actual fan of the giants, I hope McKinney elevates Peppers play. Everybody here is so quick to get rid of this guy or that guy.... how about they just play better?
I’ve torn my ACL
tyrik13 : 10/27/2020 2:02 pm : link
And meniscus twice and both times I had to wait about 3 weeks for the surgeries to happen because of swelling and making sure that it was just acl and meniscus so the time line fits for Barkley.

Nice one!!!! Got a good laugh. So good I had to drop audio and video from my Webex meeting.
As mentioned above, more than likely becasue of MCL injury
BH28 : 10/27/2020 2:40 pm : link
Hours post surgery they literally have your knee in a machine bending it to get the full range of motion back. If you have an MCL injury, that needs to heal first prior to the ACL so you can actually bend yout knee without further injuring the MCL.

MCL healing is more of a knee immobilzation technique, while ACL is the exact opposite.
Hard to believe

Barkley still awaiting surgery. It’s been quite awhile.
ACL surgery
jestersdead : 10/27/2020 3:29 pm : link
as someone who torn his, I had to wait for the swelling to go down and they have you strengthen the quad muscle b/c once you have surgery it goes down

SGMen : 10/28/2020 4:17 pm : link
I don't think there are any updates as they said "10 weeks" - he will likely be active but play only some snaps. Hoping he at least starts the final 2 or 3 games so we know more about him and can plan 2021.

While Peppers isn't a stud or the answer he isn't the worst either. He is a Giant in 2021 unless perhaps he is surprisingly traded?
