Oct. 28, 2012: the Giants beat the Cowboys in Dallas thanks to Dez Bryant’s fingertips hitting the white on what would have been a game winning TD. This was the same day Superstorm Sandy hit.
After this win, the Giants were in sole possession of first place with a 6-2 record. They had a 3 game lead on WSH who was 3-5 at the time. Things were looking good.
Do you remember how you felt about the team at that time? Dating back to the previous season, including the playoffs, the Giants had a record of 12-2 since the Jets game on Christmas Eve.
At *that* time, did anyone here see the storm clouds of what was to come?
The Giants are 46-82 since that game in Dallas.
The franchise hasn't been the same since Hurricane Sandy. It's amazing, but it's the truth, 2016 aside.
Eh, I don't know about that. That team was obviously losing steam as the year went on. They weren't repeating.

Me too. Had a 23 to 0 lead and almost blew it because they couldn’t turn like 5 Romo INTs into touchdowns
Tough to imagine those were the good old days.
8 years later and we are still letting them back into games.

as one of the most disappointing and frustrating seasons in team history.

At 6-2 including a beat-down of SF in SF they absolutely looked like they could repeat. Even after losing two in a row they clobbered GB and were 7-4. Surely going to make the playoffs at least. Instead lose 3 out of 4 and all but dead even before the last game. Hard to think of many seasons that had such legitimately high hopes at mid-season and ended up not even having a post-season.

I think more like 18 catches.
It was the offensive line which was dominating in their run finally coming completely apart.
It was the effects of Nicks getting hurt earlier in the year and not having someone like Manningham to replace him. I remember Cruz taking a hellacious shot the next week in Pittsburgh and thinking that we need to get him help or he is going to get destroyed.
I can go on and on but I'll stop. There were some really good games earlier that year that gave us hope that the dynasty wasn't ending (San Francisco, Tampa Bay) but the 2011 team wasn't a very good one. They just got hot at the right time and Eli had an MVP type year.

Nailed it. That offensive line was awful in 2011. Last in rushing offense. We had 4 guys on career years and that’s why we won. Nicks, Cruz, Manningham and Eli.
Beatty got his yearly injury and it took a career year from Kevin Boothe to fill in at LG.
They really should have taken an OL w/ their first pick in 2012 but they took David Wilson (who showed potential, he just got unlucky w/ a career ending neck injury) and then we doubled down on stupid with Rueben Randle and the "athletically arrogant" Jayron Hosley.

Many pissed off Cowgirls fans that day. Got some beer bottles thrown at us in the parking lot from tailgaters since we had Eli and Tuck jersey's on
Yep, Makes you wonder what they saw when they looked at that roster
I get what you mean and I thought there would be a limited decline in the franchise but I thought it would be a year or two at most. End of 2012 it was clear the Giants weren't contenders anymore being they got blasted by the Falcons and Ravens.
The 0-6 start in 2013 was shocking but it was cool to see the team play hard, not quit and finish 7-9. I thought the Pugh pick was kind of a reach.
Someone mentioned it here where 2014 was a year they thought the Giants would be a good team. Nope.
Watching this team always feels like a waste of time every year since 2012 except 2016. So many bad games that don't mean anything that show you absolutely no sign of improvement or really any breakout players over the years besides OBJ.
Some of these names over the years are some real head-scratchers. Some names like Larry Donnell who they kept trying to make a thing and he was here for way longer than he should've been.
When the Giants get good again (whenever the fuck that is) I will comb through the rosters of these teams 2012-present and just laugh my ass off.
That 2015 Giants defense before JPP came back might be one of the worst defenses ever as far as an assembled starting defense is concerned.
Remember JPP with one hand was immediately the best pass rusher on the team? You cannot make this shit up.
