Standard plan (1080p and up to 2 screens at a a time) goes up to $13.99, premium (4k and up to 4 at a time) goes to $17.99. Wonder how long it will take to exceed $20 a month.... Netflix - ( New Window )
so the raise isn’t a big deal. Once they cross $20 it’s something to think about but still a good value at that price. Their content is still the best of that bunch with the best interface. Not something I plan on cancelling any time soon.

I agree. Outside of Disney + they have the most 4K content I believe out of the streaming subscriptions. In the last couple years though I believe the premium has gone from $12.99 to $17.99.
I will say my favorite streaming service lately has been Apple TV +, I've loved every show and movie so far except one (Ghost Writer). Ted Lasso and The Morning Show probably being the two favorites.
Thankfully my family and I piggyback off each other with some things.
I get Netflix, and Apple TV (doing the Apple One subscription later this year since I already get 2TB iCloud for family and the Apple Music family subscription). My VZ Wireless plan also comes with Disney +, ESPN + and Hulu included.
My brother gets HBO Max
My mother has Prime
My father has CBS All Access
My sister doesn't get shit and piggybacks off all of us haha.
on 1 screen which is what I subscribe to. It's supposed to be low definition, but i haven't noticed a difference in quality. I think that's a bargain and I'd be willing to pay more for the service.
I just rotate and binge. HBO right now after not having it for a couple years. Showtime a few months back is a great watch...tons of great series. I'll go back to Disney after Mandalorian finishes releasing.

If you're an Apple TV fan, check out Tehran and See, both are very well done series.
Even with the increase, it's still an incredible steal

I got Apple TV free for buying an iphone for Christmas and they extended it to April I think.
I get Disney Plus free for being a FiOS subscriber.
I pay for Netflix family (4 screen?) plan
and FiOS.
I feel like that's enough and I don't think I'll pay for Apple TV or Disney Plus if I had to, but I'd rather not pay for any of them and I'd like for one service to take over all of it - have every single piece of content available for streaming - live TV, movies, etc. and if that service sdoesn't have rights to it, then do a PPV/rent thing to allow me as the consumer to make it worth it to them.
I usually don’t, I make my own especially since Covid. But if I go out to the good spots then $3-$4 is pretty standard depending on the size. Crappy Dunkin’ Donuts is $2.50 and I’d rather get something better.
Exactly, who the hell would green light that crap?
That was unbelievable. And when people sent emails telling them they were sexualizing pre-teen girls, their responses were along the lines of “different people have different interests”
so the raise isn’t a big deal. Once they cross $20 it’s something to think about but still a good value at that price. Their content is still the best of that bunch with the best interface. Not something I plan on cancelling any time soon.
Yeh I’ll quit some of my other streaming platforms before I cancel my Netflix. Maybe that’s part of the rational?
But it's still a bargain at 15/month. If you watch 3 hours of content a month you're probably getting your money's worth.
Prime has been mopping the floor with them over the last year when it comes to new content. There are 5-6 new series better on Prime than anything that Netflix has dropped since Mindhunter (maybe "The Haunting" anthologies are an exception). Netflix seems to be catering to the Zoomer generation more, so if they continue to jack up pricing and pump out Outer Banks like content then it might be time.
15/month though? Peanuts when you look at their library.

It's mainly only Netflix's original content that's in 4K, but the Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos stuff looks and sounds amazing.
For the comments on Seinfeld, The Office, etc., I noticed that Apple and others had sales on buying entire seasons over the summer with this pandemic stuff going on and I picked up the entire Office series for $35 and Seinfeld for $50...couldn't beat it. So if we ever do back off the steaming services we already have those 2, all of Friends and Raising Hope in our library plus about 500 movies between iTunes and Vudu across my brother, sister and myself.

Same for me on the Apple TV +, I got a year free when I got a new Apple TV 4K, the year was going to expire soon and I was going to continue since it's only $5, but with the new Apple One bundle only being $29.99/mo, which includes Apple TV + ($5/mo), Apple News ($9.99/mo), 2 TB of iCloud for family ($9.99/mo), Apple Music Family subscription ($14.99/mo) and Apple Arcade ($4.99/mo), I'm just going to get that since I'm already getting the 2TB iCloud and Apple music anyway. I'd be paying $30 anyway if I did what I had been doing and added Apple TV, so now I'll get News and Arcade (which I don't see myself really using much if at all) for nothing. I don't work for Apple by the way haha.
That's interesting on the Disney + included with FiOS, I hadn't heard on that one, how's that work? Not a big deal since it's included with my new wireless plan with Verizon.
I agree on wishing things could be more simplified, but I feel like if one provider had all the content you suggested prices would be higher than they are now even.
so the raise isn’t a big deal. Once they cross $20 it’s something to think about but still a good value at that price. Their content is still the best of that bunch with the best interface. Not something I plan on cancelling any time soon.
Its completely worth the upcharge. When it came out 4-5 years ago it was really just House of Cards that was 4k and a few other things, but now its almost all of their original content + some other stuff. You can upgrade for a month and try and, and downgrade if it isn't worth it for you.
Managing all the streaming content is annoying, I have 6 or 7 logins and swapping between everything can be a chore, but that's also what people wanted - a la carte content to get out of the Cable model. Having one entity offer everything in 1 interface would basically just be going back to cable so I don't see the point.
the price of Netflix is well worth it, especially when you find random gems of shows/movies. I also love the fact that Netflix doesn't dribble out one episodes per week like Disney+ and Prime video.
My Disney+ deal with Fios just expired, but with three kids under the age of 9, it's not getting cancelled anytime soon, especially with the new season of Mandolorian coming out today.
And we also have Prime Video, but that's mainly because of us having Prime. We did sign up for Amazon visa as well for Amazon purchases since most our purchases are now online from Amazon. That 5% cashback can't be beat.

just odd that people would pay $15 a month or whatever they pay for a single show that they can just buy the DVD’s for.
I’d be curious what else is good to you that isn’t on Netflix.
I didn't pay for it. I received a year Netflix subscription as a gift. It was useful for the first 9 months but I just ran out of movies and shows to watch by that point so I just watched the Office as a time filler at night.
I even finished some run-of-the-mill shows I wasn't too crazy over, like House of Cards and Ozark. Gotham was a decent find but then the subscription ran out. I'd never get a Netflix subscription again, especially with the price increase.
I never liked subscriptions to anything really. Even some "other" platforms just aren't worth it when you go behind their pay wall. Cable? Meh. Everything's so damn expensive and worthless (like college, lol) I'm just a Millennial living in this Harry's yo-yo world.

And 2nd whoever commented on Ted Lasso. I wish they release all the episodes at once, but it's a great show.

Not sure what some people’s expectations are. For 4 cups of coffee you are getting a ridiculously deep library of content.

The Office + Good shows to watch?

However I do have a question. Do you just watch the series on an endless loop? Wouldn’t buying the DVD set be more economical?

I said good shows to watch. I watched most of the popular Netflix shows and couldn't get into anything new.
Don't be fooled, plenty of people are ditching Netflix because the Office is leaving.

Not sure if they still offer it - but I linked an offer from them below.
