NFT: Favorite Non-Traditional Exercise Equipment

ImThatGuy : 10/30/2020 4:10 pm
(slow friday)

Looking to see all the non-traditional exercise equipment that everyone uses and what they recommend. I use one of these gyro spinners and its perfect while I'm on calls and what not. Also looking into a balance board - any recommendations?

filled with 3 gallon jugs of water (about 25lbs), or free weights. Good thing with the water jugs is that you can drink the water, be refreshed and technically still be carrying it.

You can alternate wearing in front or on your back during workouts (pushups, situps, stretching, etc.) and also during brisk walking...

Exercise bands.

They are effective and you can take them just about any where.

Chopping and stacking firewood, is my other answer.

from the U.S. Navy last year have continued working out. I added a few different things. One is those basic hand/grip strengtheners that you squeeze. I use it while driving and anytime I'm bored. Nice to have a stronger grip as you get older.

I can back up the bands. I am very much into free weights. But over the last 9 months, I have two sets of bands to tailor my lifts as well as a gorilla bar, which is fantastic for mimicking bar lifts like cleans.

But I am not sure I will continue my Y membership given how much my bands offer in addition to my power tower and wooden box. I can do virtually any crossfit workout in my apartment.

Might still go to the Y for swimming though.
what exercise bands do you all recommend

but “the perfect push up” is something I’ve used on and off for years and it’s awesome. Really adds layers to standard push ups. Now if I’d only use it more...

I have two sets of the Intey latex bands on amazon. I got two sets so that could have better range when using multiple bands. They are 40 bucks a set on Amazon.

I also sprung like 200 for a gorilla bar. Just adds to the workouts I can do as I mentioned. I combine the gorilla bar with some bands for heavier lifts like deadlifts and back squats.

For workouts, I have saved like 30 crossfit workouts that I do. The only exercise I cant do really is toes to bar (which is fine by me, lol).
Ill add a vote for resistance bands

Recently purchased a set through Amazon figuring that the gym will be closing again at some point and didnt want to get caught with nothing like I was last time. Really like them a lot....dont think that I would want to replace free weights with them on a permanent basis, but I can definitely get in a good workout with them.

One word of advice: if you use the door anchor, make sure you are using a SOLID door if you are going to use a heavy weight. I didnt, and the anchor got through the bottom of the door....shot me right in the ass:). Thank God I was facing away from the door and not forward!
