#NHL likely to play a 48-to-60-game season that will start Jan. 1, deputy commish Bill Daly said moments ago. A lot of moving parts, he http://added.Camp will probably begin in mid-Dec. #Flyers
be legit and it's not so much I doubted it, but I haven't yet seen it widely reported (and haven't looked tbh).

It appears NHL teams are starting to recall the players they've loaned to Europe. Isac Lundeström (ANA) and Jesper Boqvist (NJD) have been recalled from Timrå already.

Both sides as of today still hope for a Jan. 1 puck drop (we'll see), and the Cup awarded by July 15 at the latest (hopefully sooner). Most of the conversations between both sides have focused on 60-plus games. All-Canadian division remains a thing for obvious reasons. (con't)
fans will be able to attend. Not complaining too much... I'm glad they're playing, but miss making my annual pilgrimage to Nashville to see the Rangers.
If true and they do decide that there is going to be no bubble, then this could shut down really fast.
Especially the Canadian teams. Our covid numbers are going up and there is even more talk about provinces shutting down inter-provincial travel.
Do you know if the owners are expecting fans? If not, why do they care so much if it's in their home rink?
From what I read no one wants a long-term bubble that's a lot to ask players for a full season, but I thought the temporary bubbles sounded like a road trip.
I also wonder what a vaccine may mean to sports teams. And if they'd be early adopters.
Scott, I'm just guessing, but teams might get tax breaks based on where games are played.
The Rangers have to play all their home games at MSG for their tax break. There is an act of God exemption, which the pandemic fell under this past season. But not sure if that sticks next season?

tax breaks on what? All revenue? TV revenue? clothing sales?
obviously seems like no concession sales, ticket sales, parking (if the Rangers even have parking), etc. this year.

I read somewhere that some of the owners wanted fans. I am not sure where I read it. I think it was in one of the French papers here. They are always on top of the hockey news.
The issue right now is that while our numbers are not like yours down south. They are pointing out that it 4 months to get to 200K cases. It only took the last 4 weeks to get 300K.
People are on edge and Ontario and Quebec are the hotspots numbers wise. I can see there being issues with the Habs or Leafs heading to Vancouver or Edmonton for example. If the NHL has a plan to have mini bubbles while the teams are traveling. That may work, however if fans are getting involved then having the mini bubble is useless.
I guess that the exemptions may help some clubs money wise. Especially the smaller market teams like my Hurricanes or Winnipeg for example. I doubt that our wonderful Quebec and Montreal governments or other larger market towns will be so giving to their teams.
this could have a domino effect. The Railers (Worcester) are the only thing sustaining that rink right now. Beautiful new (couple years old now) twin rink in Worcester.

More on the ECHL situation - Expect the entire North Division to cease operations for the season. That's Adirondack, Brampton, Maine, Newfoundland, Reading and Worcester. Official announcement expected around 2ET.

The @NHLPA has a Ex board call 4pm today. 80-100 players expected to take part. Included is news per @NYP_Brooksie the NHL wanting to renegotiate economic terms of a 4 month old agreement.
Some hint the possible threat of @NHL cancelled season if changes aren’t met @Line_Movement

From today's column on ESPN+, this is what I'm hearing for potential divisions for the NHL 2020-21 season: https://espn.com/nhl/insider/st
The all Canadian division was shot because of some kind of travel restrictions in Canada. They have a lot more than the NBA to figure out. And little time. Players are going to have to give a lot back it looks like.

Yeah, Scott in MTL mentioned it above. Sounds like no one wants the people from Quebec going west and infecting everyone.
Still all-Canada is the only option because I don't see them allowing cross border traffic between the US and Canada.
Maybe two Canada divisions? MTL, TOR, OTT and then EDM, VAN, CAL, & WIN and maybe have a centrally located bubble for inter-division play for a couple weeks at a time.
