I missed the first half. But what I saw of the second half he looked amazing. Had a half sack on third down and then a 20 yard punt return on fourth. This coaching staff seems to be putting him good spots.
Did I miss anything major that would contradict this view?
Well Mook is an idiot so...
I was about to say the same the same thing. LOL.
Yup, and having Logan Ryan eliminates the need for Peppers to worry about playing deep halves. Peppers is essentially playing nickel linebacker much of the time
He's not good. And he will never be good. He'll have a couple good games a year, and he'll suck the other 14.

No, he was used improperly. And he was never a bad football player, he just had no real position, which is a huge difference. He wasn't a 1st round pick because he was a bad football player. Like Collins, he is a tweener. Graham and Judge are thinking outside the box and using him where he is most effective.

judge him on a couple of games and ignore that he's been a bad defensive player for the majority of his career.

Yes, it's been everyone elses fault for 4 years. Just like it was everyone elses fault at Michigan when he was no where near the impact player they thought he would be on defense.
Judge does a good job getting the most out of a lousy roster, that I will give you. But Peppers should not be part of the teams long term plans, because he's not good enough to be.
He does this every year where he plays a couple of really good games and flashes and everyone thinks see he's a good player and then he sucks shit.
There are many positives from this game, and Peppers did play a good game, but long term I have no interest in having him as a major part of this defense. They can hide him against bad teams.
I really dont know why people can't just accept that he's not very good. Why is it everyone elses fault that he isn't good?
He was being pulled off the field on passing downs at times this year and he was less than pleased about it.
The Giants have zero depth back there and he was still coming off the field.
He's similar to Engram. Talented but just not very good.

You can be obstinate - he was a 1st round pick because he sucked at Michigan? ok. And yes, if the coaches did not utilize him correctly then it is on them. Is he a true safety? Is he a linebacker? Is he a DE? While we can agree he was not much of anything special as any of the above singlely, but it sure seems if you play him as a rover, an unaccounted for defender he plays extremely well. Funny how his coverage has improved recently. He has a lot of athletic ability, now Graham is taking advantage of it.

Are you referring to when the coaching staff was obviously taking it easy on him and almost giving him a snap count when coming back from injury? Cause that’s what it seemed to me, being cautious with the injury.
He has flaws and out coaches are better than the previous bunch, what’s so hard to see here? How many other players are playing well, written off as JAGs?
When McKinney comes back, I’ll bet he plays alongside Ryan ... and Peppers will be a ‘rover’ ... Peppers is a very good blitzer and will give offenses fits trying to figure out what he’s going to do.
He has been a key player on this defense though and happy with his punt returns. I think he is a player that we aim to get high comp pick for. If he was willing to sign for a reasonable amount I would keep him but he will want more than Collins I would think.
The QB of my high school team was an elite athlete. He would just take the snap and run up the middle 80 yards for a TD. Nobody could touch him. We were on cable TV every week so Bergen County could watch him play.
He goes to Illinois and some idiot decides to turn him into a cornerback. They also never used his offensive skills... ever. This kid was like Lamar Jackson decades ago but the NCAA was just not ready for that.
He plays as a backup DB for Miami and Washington for a couple of years before his career ended.
This guy was never used appropriately once he left high school.

Rich Gannon was a QB at the U of D who relied a lot on his legs. Some NFL teams wanted to turn him into a utility running back. He held firm and insisted on playing QB. Turned out well for him.
