from being a pretty elite team?
I know we still have this year, and I firmly think we can go on a run and win the division.
But I doubt we're a super bowl team yet.
But it seems like we have a lot in place. We have a developing QB, developing O-Line, a really good DL, good complimentary WRs, a strong MLB, an elite corner #1, and our safety position is pretty covered. We also have an elite Kicker/Punter combo.
The only position that is sort of up in the air (meaning it can go either way is TE and Engram) not sure what we'll have there moving forward, but coaching staff seems to believe in him.
We also have a really good coaching staff and a lot of cap room beginning in 2022.
Next year we'll get Barkley back, and Zo Carter (who was also coming on)
So it seems like we're on the precipice of something good here.
With that said, if you agree, who do you want (in college and free agency) at those positions?
It’s all on jones improving last 6 games and taking it into 2021
With hopefully some continuity and saquon rounding into form mid yr
Would be enough talent if we are well coached
And by early returns, besides 49ers game. Looks like we may have found a long term answer there too
Edge, WR, CB are clearly biggest needs. OL looks to finally be on its way and it’s weird seeing LBs that can run and tackle. That said, I’d prob look to add there as well.
If Pettis can play up to his potential and Mack can show us more grit, maybe even WR gets downgraded a bit.
Here are my top 3:
1. CB
2. Edge
3. WR. (Hoping Pettis and Tate make me change this)

Tate is probably going to be off the team one minute after the final game of 2020 ends
I'm interested in seeing what some of the practice squad WRs can do
With good coaching, you can win 10 games with a roster like that.

QB is being taken off many draft need boards around here.

The good thing about losing Tate is we can move Shepherd back to the slot where he really excels. Then we have Slayton, Pettis, and Tate....and this top WR draft choice we may pick up next year.
It's a good win, they beat a team they haven't beaten in four years. They handled a team that typically owns them. But, there's a long way to go before they're a contender. Even they win 6 games and the division, there's a long way to go to get the talent level and experience level up to contender.
Howabout not hang on to every game every week and try to enjoy the progress.

Who's the second Tate you speak of? His twin brother? :-)
I hope we are. We used a top 5 draft pick for that position. I think everyone agrees he is now starting to play better. Again, I must remind you....he had practically no preseason.

Lol, ooops, I meant Mack. Both names with 4 letters.
Whether or not they are the future remains to be seen, but don't see the brass moving on from either.
Let’s beat a team that isn’t in the worst division in the league before we start throwing “elite” around.
1. Jets
2. Jax
3. Wash
4. Dallas
5. Houston
6. Cinci
7. Chargers
8. Denver
9. Carolina or Atlanta

They may pick 16th if they win the division.
Completely agree. I’m super pumped after today. There’s a lot to be excited/encouraged about. But let’s keep seeing improvement. Need to beat a frisky Joe Burrow led Bengals team after the bye. This team is not good enough to look too far ahead.
Sick of wasting resources on the position
I hope we do not lose anyone across DL.
We still have several players that should not be on the field...so better back-ups are needed, as well.
Hopeful, yes.....but the climb must continue
ER
CB
WR
are the top three and I would throw in
ILB to help Martinez
and two way TE
Of course, there needs to be upgrades at some backup positions, but if you can get a starter, some of the current starters become good backups...
Now we need to upgrade the talent and away we go.
But boy, what a sigh of relief for me as a fan to have the feeling like we have the makings of a good to great coaching staff. Keep em' together if possible.
What i'm looking for is evidence the staff can develop the talent. We haven't been able to do that in a long while in my opinion. Players get here and they don't get any better. Lets see if this staff can do that. So far so good.

Jon, you know you can't talk sensibly after a ein! You have to eait until the next loss. Good e in and I agree. Nothing rolls onto the next year.

Agree with all that. And Zo Carter may not completely come back so another Edge/LB may be needed there. I hate achilles injuries more than knee injuries.
- Another Inside LB
- Another outside Cornerback
- A Free Safety adept at deep cover (McKinney probably isn't that guy)
- Upgrade at Guard
- Upgrade at Right Tackle (or if Peart develops)
- Two Wide Receivers
- Three-down Tight End
What am i missing?
I just want the Giants to form an identity with dominant traits with a high level of execution. That will make the sum greater than the parts.
Right now they are trending to a power run team and I have to say I love that. If the OL becomes the dominant trait, oh my goodness they will be fun to watch.

I doubt they get rid of Tate, 7 mill dead money and only save 2.2mill. You are not ganna find a better receiver for 2.2mill. Hopefully they can find a trade with the Jets for a 7th round pick or something
One of the many great things about the OL appearing to be set is it finally opens up the 1st round pick to be used elsewhere. It started with the forced Pugh pick, Flowers even AT at #4. in all cases we likely felt obligated to use premium resources on OL. and rightfully so.
Now we can go back to what the team did in Coughlins hey day, simply adding great football players in round 1 regardless of position.
Seriously. People are acting as if this were the Eagles of three years ago.
