A couple of people posted on other threads but I thought it was worth it's own. I haven't seen much of the Eagles with the exception of the 2 Giant games but to me it looks like Doug Pederson is getting too cute playing him.
Wentz is a good runner and a very good thrower on the run. It isn't like Hurts is subbing in for someone like Eli and is adding a different dimension. My thoughts are whatever incremental athleticism he provides is negated by having Wentz play wide receiver.
I don't think Hurts is gaining valuable playing time and the Eagles cap-wise seem to be locked into Wentz until 2022.
Am I missing something?
Haha
I honestly think it looked like Hurts doesn’t add anything bc Graham had us prepared for them to use him. If memory serves Miles Sanders had one good run off a read option with Hurts, otherwise we stuffed him
I still cannot believe they got a Super Bowl out of it. But Pederson can't help himself.
3rd and long failed, punted away.
Eagles really lost their momentum there

I'm sorry, but uptempo football, RPOs, etc. are not "trickery" and "douchebaggery" - we have been using some of those same concepts ourselves for a while now.
Fandom aside I’d like to see Hurts run a full series and see how it looks. The football fan in me is intrigued by his skill set and I’ve seen enough of Wentz.

The Eagles have been relying on trickery and douchebaggery to win games since Chip Kelly was there. This is how they do things.

I didn't say it was. I meant Pederson is in love with trick plays and trying to show how smart he is. So he can't help himself but put in Hurts, even if things are going well.
I also don't get keeping Wentz on the field as a WR decoy. Obviously teams are just going to cover him 1v1.
Taysum Hill doesn't really throw it much either (5 attempts + 1 sack in ~150 snaps), but at least he's averaging 17.5 y/a when he does, which keeps the safeties honest. And, at least this year, they've been pulling Brees when Hill goes under C so at least they aren't playing 10v11.
Unless Wentz gets pulled and they give Hurts a chance to run the offense, its going to feel like a gimmick.
