Rumor that seems reliable: OKC to send Dennis Schroeder to LAL for Danny Green's corpse and the 28th overall pick.

One would assume that this means Rajon Rondo (FA) will not return. Note that he went to UK and you'll see a pronounced roster shift (or assumption of a shift) to it being UK strong.

Rumor that seems unreliable: James Harden to Nets for Lavert, Dinwiddie, Allen and perhaps draft compensation.

The Detroit Pistons are trading G Bruce Brown to the Brooklyn Nets for F Dzanan Musa and a 2021 second-round pick, sources tell ESPN.
Apparently

a ton of trades announced today.

Love that trade for LA. Schroeder becomes their 3rd best player and way more valuable then Green and a super late first.

I think

today is going to be a wild day. I suspect a bunch of trades are done but haven't been announced yet.

I'm thrilled because I really dont feel like doing any actual work today.
Good trade for Nets.

Schroder to Lakers should be done

Harden
TyreeHelmet : 11/16/2020 9:13 am : link
I'm sure his destination will ultimately be dictated by Harden, but Houston should be able to get a bigger return than the Brooklyn package.
I am fascinated/intrigued/nervous
NYG22 : 11/16/2020 9:18 am : link
to see what the Knicks do. I am encouraged about the front office they've assembled. But want to see proof that there is reason to be optimistic. The opposite of that in terms of an indicator would be a Westbrook trade where we don't rob them of young assets (of which they have very little). I'd like to see them do what was reported recently, take on $$ without a killer long term duration (e.g. not Westbrook, not Tobias Harris, not John Wall) and get young assets as compensation.

Musa is not a 3pt shooter. He's young with a lot of skill, but he hasn't figured it out. Now, it could be his situation.

His game requires him to have the ball, but he was behind a ton of players like that.
Im not a Nets fan...
Italianju : 11/16/2020 9:26 am : link
but that Harden package with a couple picks seems pretty good. Lavert can be more then a role player for sure, Allen is solid and Dinwiddie can be a starting PG in this league. TBH since BKN already has ball dominant scorers i dont think that trade makes a ton of sense for them. If KD is KD then he is the most efficient of the bunch, followed by Harden, and Kyrie. So basically whenever Kyrie starts dominating the ball the team is way worse, he is by far the least efficient of the 3. Its the NBA so i get why you would do this if you are BKN, but im not sure it really makes them better longterm. They should trade Kyrie for Harden, haha.

The rumor as far as I know is that Harden is interested in being traded there. Apparently there have been no talks between the two teams and Houston has told teams that they plan to run it back with Harden next year. Since Harden is under contract for 2 years (plus a third year player option for $47M which he might exercise given his age), he doesn't have the same leverage for example, that Anthony Davis did.

Personally I just don't see what this does for Houston if they're going to tear it all down. That's not to say I don't think Levert and Dinwiddie are good players but at 26 and 27 they're not centerpieces for a total teardown/rebuild for a team without much draft capital for some time.

I'm sure they have Hayes in the first slot, he's just less likely to be there.
Harden to the Nets
Pete44 : 11/16/2020 10:18 am : link
I don't see how the Rockets don't get a better offer than what the Nets can give them. I can think of 3 or 4 teams that can put together better packages, starting with Denver and something that starts with Michael Porter.

Harden, Murry, Jokic could help them challenge the Lakers.

I'm tired of the writers overvaluing the Nets players. Lavert is a good player, but is 26 and injury prone. Allen plays center, a devalued position and they don't have much else unless they put Irving in the deal.

Probably why they want to trade down. Can likely still get one of those 4.
Vassell
Pete44 : 11/16/2020 10:26 am : link
I have heard conflicting reports in their interest in Vassell,.

As I have been saying for months, he has strange shooting mechanics. I don't want him.

The pick should either be Kira or Nesmith. They both fit the Knicks needs and the talent difference between 6-14 is non-descript. These guys can shot. Nesmith is compared to Kris Middleton.

I don't see much of a difference between Nesmith and Reggie Bullock frankly. I see an outstanding catch and shoot guy with little ball handling and pedestrian athleticism. If we are comparing him to Vassell, to me its night/day in terms of defensive potential.

The rumors are Tibs wants to win now and is pressuring the front Office.
This would fit that but it tops them out a 7th or 8th seed and kills the future.
This is the prototypical next move

The new mock from Wasserman hurts, Flynn goes ONE pick before we do. Okoro/Flynn would be such a nice way to begin the new era.

You would think Rose/Thibs would have spoken about the outlook for the team at his hiring. A trade for Westbrook giving up any real assets (draft picks) is a terrible idea. The Mavs are Doncic injury away from being a lottery team. Remember, there was no off-season.
Few other draft notes from last night/this morning
Strahan91 : 11/16/2020 10:44 am : link
- Latest Givony ESPN mock has the Knicks taking Haliburton at 8 and Stewart at 27.

- Berman still says the Knicks preference is to trade back a few slots and pick up an asset. Sounded like he thinks Hayes is their preference if he's there and if not will be between Lewis, Okoro or Vassell. Also said the Knicks weren't that high on Haliburton.

Hayes

I trust his info.

Hayes at 8 would be great. An added bonus is that with his size, you can still play him next to a PG if you need to.
The Harden
Jon in NYC : 11/16/2020 10:51 am : link
trade would be terrible for the Knicks because it's almost certainly precluding a Westbrook trade.

This is where I'm at. I'd be okay with it, but not thrilled. I'd also want them to take DSJ though.

"But Harden wants to move on from the Rockets, the Chronicle has been informed, and is trying to force his way via trade to Brooklyn, allowing The Beard to form the NBA’s next superteam and rejoin forces with former OKC teammate Kevin Durant."
Ugh.
Jon in NYC : 11/16/2020 11:14 am : link
Would be really shitty and definitely ends up with Westbrook as a Knick.

Kyrie-Harden-Durant has all the makings of a disaster. All close to or past their prime, all need the ball to be effective, all dramatic personalities. No supporting cast. First time head coach. Would be entertaining to watch.
Teams that could put together better packages for Harden than Brooklyn

Right. Other teams can put together better packages
GGGGmen : 11/16/2020 11:23 am : link

Other teams could have built better trade packages for AD but he wanted to be a Laker so.

No shot HOU sends Harden somewhere he doesn't want to be. Does not happen in this league.
