Rumor that seems reliable: OKC to send Dennis Schroeder to LAL for Danny Green's corpse and the 28th overall pick.
One would assume that this means Rajon Rondo (FA) will not return. Note that he went to UK and you'll see a pronounced roster shift (or assumption of a shift) to it being UK strong.
Rumor that seems unreliable: James Harden to Nets for Lavert, Dinwiddie, Allen and perhaps draft compensation.

dont think the Knicks will get FVV. I'd put the odds 50% Raptors, 40% Pistons, 10% other.
Why?
Mostly a hunch. There's been some rumors that Raps are confident in keeping him. The Pistons have been rumored to love Patrick Williams, which wouldn't make a ton of sense with so many PGs on the board unless you have your guy locked up.
What? They just hired someone "outside the family" and he has made 0 moves so far other than hiring Thibs.
Yeah no arguments here. Hopefully it's just connecting the dots to prior dumb Knick moves. It is admittedly very on brand for this franchise.
Eh, I'm not so sure. Paul's 35. They'll need another PG either way.
They've done exactly that. How could you possibly comment on them "playing checkers" when the new regime's tenure (for all intents and purposes) hasn't started yet?

Report: Oklahoma City Thunder expected to 'explore' trading Steven Adams
I know I don't need to tell you this, but there's no question that having RJ limits what you can do with the pieces around him. You just can't have a non shooter at PG or SG or else the spacing is completely fucked.
To be fair, virtually any other year you could pop in and say they're playing checkers and you'd be right.

Absolutely, but in this case, its also fair to be encouraged by the FO they've assembled. As I said in the OP, that optimism would disappear for me with a Westbrook acquisition.
But yeah, this was the biggest reason for my concern about Barrett in the first place.
Tim Hardaway Jr hasn't opted in yet.
Kenny Payne is such a big hire and can turn out very big for former Cats wanting to continue to play for him. He was so loved by Kentucky and talks did happen about if Cal left for NBA that they’d love to promote him.
I don't love the idea bit if we get Kira Lewis, Rondo would be a solid backup and mentor and perhaps be a trade asset at the deadline.
It is why I have been hot on Lewis and Nesmith since May.

Houston is fully comfortable keeping Harden and Russell Westbrook into the season.

I think he ends up in Philly with Doc.
Harden will get himself traded, but Houston will get the best deal and the Nets don't come close to Boston, Miami, Denver or even Portland in terms of packages.
The only way the Nets should be in the conversation is if they offer Kyrie. Houston wants an all star player (CJ McCollum) or young developing player (Michael Porter or Jaylen Brown) type.

No they would trade multiple draft pocks and young players

Who says they still won't. I will not feel relaxed about this until Westbrook is safely on another team like Charlotte.

Would Philly give up Simmons to land Harden?
I envision it being Randle, DSJ and one of the Dallas 1s for Westbrook. If that is the case, how would you feel about the likelihood of:
PG: RW, Malachi Flynn at 27, Jared Harper
SG: RJB, Ntilikina, Reggie Bullock
SF: Devin Vassell at 8, Knox, Iggy
PF: Christian Wood via FA 3 years @ 17.5mm per, Kenny Wooten, , Robert Woodard (a fav of mine at 38)
C: Mitchell Robinson, Taj Gibson, WCS on a cheap one year deal

My sources are not saying much on Westbrook. There seems to be some mixed info, where some buzz is that the Knicks really want him and other buzz, where they would only take him as a salary dump. There was a rumor today that Charlotte is offering the #3 pick for him, that would just be dumb, but who knows.
The main thing I have gotten today is that Devin Vassell looks like the pick at 8, unless Tobin falls or they trade down. An outside shot on Okoro and Lewis. Tobin is actually the guy they love.
Also my take on someone who will fall: Tyrese Haliburton. The Knicks don't like him and I think he's going to end up going early teens.

Vassell could be a terrible pick. Knicks need a good guard or SF/PF. Don’t see him as being that good.
It does seem like it's going to come down to that decision on draft night.

"All I can say is that a lot of people want him."
unless he wants a long term deal for less money?
