Feels pretty good this morning, doesn’t it.
Now we can be engaged in meaningful games, because we believe 7-9 or even 6-10 division title is a significant step forward, not something to be scoffed at or dismissed.
Wasn’t it rewarding to have our faith in Jones rewarded, for at least this week. Maybe there s actually a chance he s not the worst quarterback in the NFL, or at best a backup. Maybe he s not a bust at #6, maybe even he is not dwarfed by the other young guns like Tua, Herbert, Burrow.
Maybe even, he continues to lead the Giants to enough victories that the question of drafting his replacement is mute; that d be nice.
Parcells once said about quarterbacks, you don’t really learn about them until they face adversity; Jones has certainly done that, and at least for this week was a main reason behind the biggest Giants win in many a season.
I ve always felt the narrative against Jones here, was motivated by something other than objective thinking. Maybe it s their dislike of DG, or some misplaced sense of loyalty to Eli
Whatever the reason, there has been a focus only on the negative, while there have also been reasons to be positive over his first 20 games.
His critics won’t admit it, but maybe there is a chance Daniel Jones is the real deal.
There are only 4 times a rookie has thrown for >300 yards and 4 TD passes in a game. Jones has 3 of those! Are you kidding me! Doesn’t this scream out at you telling you the kid can do it....just be patient, surround him with better coaches and talent, coach him up a bit (hold onto the ball) and have faith in the maturation process.
I know these last two games won’t always happen as good as this but it is clear to me Jones has the necessary mental skills to be successful in this league. He has ice in his veins.....doesn’t seem to let pressure affect him, especially from the media and fans.
God bless Joe Judge and the staff he has put together here. I can finally see the light through all the dark clouds.
In the context of Jones' progression (and the entire OL) I think it's likely a few of those outcomes would be different if those games were played now.
And what's even better than that is thinking about how things will look whenever Barkley gets back, and ideally with another downfield weapon like Galloday or JaMarr Chase on the field. Things are finally looking up.
Thanks, stupid miss take on my part. Can’t even blame it on auto correct.
“Moot”
Realistically, we probably go 2-1 in the winnable game and 0-3 in the tough ones, finishing 5-11
Optimistically, we run the table with Bengals, Browns, Cowboys, and steal one of the tough ones. Any given Sunday. That would mean 7-9, and likely a division title
If this team keeps coming together (and keeps getting guys healthy without any new big injuries), the optimistic scenario isn’t beyond the realm
I’d agree that if we beat Dallas week 17, the season ends happy
Still a long way to go.
Is that objective thinking you are searching for have anything to do with poor pocket awareness and turning the ball over at alarming rate in his first 20 games?
Nah, you're probably right. It's because we all miss Eli.
