5 star HS recruit who some doubted could play CB at the CFB level because he was too big/not fast enough, then played really well from day 1 and got overhyped as an early entry NFL prospect. Probably scheme dependent and not an elite athlete but he has size and has played a lot of competitive football in his life with high expectations (his dad was a college CB at UMiami and became a coach in SFL).
Not such a different story from the types of reclamation projects the Pats specialize in. Eric Rowe might be a good comparison - he was ironically the 47th overall pick of his draft year and traded to the Pats after 1 year where he became a contributor for a few years before now becoming a starter in Miami (played for Graham last year too). Looking back Wilson's 3 cone at the combine was a pretty impressive number for his size. Hopefully he's the next DB from the scrap heap who contributes.

Thanks for sharing, I'm not expecting anything since the Jets gave up on him so early but you never know. He sounds like someone who is a better fit in a zone scheme or perhaps a move to safety will benefit him.

Yeah more than likely he's just a bust - kind of like Rashaun Gaulden last year. But who knows, Yiadom has ended up contributing a little bit. I like the strategy of taking chances since the NFL is so fit dependent. The Pats do that all day long and seem to find a few guys every year that everyone else moves on from.
... about who will play the role of Kyler Murray on the scout team. We Know Mizzell is versatile (RB/WR/KR), and he’s about the right size. Can he throw a fifty-yard laser while falling away to his left?
Mizzell was with the Saints through 2019, plus camp this year. He’s only been out of the league for a couple of months.
Wilson was one of 60 collegiate defensive backs to attend the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana.[9] He completed all the combine drills and finished first among all defensive backs in the short shuttle and 14th in the three-cone drill.[10] On March 28, 2017, Wilson attended Florida's pro day, but opted to stand on his combine numbers and only run coverage and receiving drills as scouts and team representatives from 28 NFL teams attended, including New England Patriots' head coach Bill Belichick.[11] Wilson attended private workouts and visits with multiple teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and Cleveland Browns.[12][13] At the conclusion of the pre-draft process, Wilson was projected to be a second round pick by NFL draft experts and scouts. He was ranked the second best cornerback prospect in the draft by Sports Illustrated, was ranked the sixth best cornerback by ESPN, was ranked the eighth best cornerback by NFLDraftScout.com, and was ranked the ninth best cornerback prospect in the draft by NFL analyst Mike Mayock.[14][15][16]

It’s late and I just had to research everything I could find on this former 2nd round pick (46 I believe).
Since we lost Baker I’m looking for guys also highly rated coming out who just didn’t make it on their original team. Yiadon and Wilson are two of them. Wilson - ( New Window )

I have an important update: Taquan Mizzell’s nickname is apparently “Smoke”.

We want Smoke Monday!
Camp fodder!😉
Maybe we're getting intel from Quincy on his brother, Marco...:)
Agree that's strange. Must be a connection somewhere.
Quote:
He is 27 and hasn't played in a game since 2018. For his career he has 9 carries for 16 yards and 8 receptions for 78 yards.

I'm assuming that he's a very good special teams player.
