Austin Rivers 3 years 10 million

The AAV is not much, but 3 years!?!? For Rivers!?!? Why?
Improved player in Houston. Solid defender too.
Ten Ton Hammer : 11/22/2020 7:30 pm : link
I dont understand it from his perspective. Why lock into 3 years and make yourself a bargain.

I don't get it from either perspective. Why would Rivers be okay with 3M per and why would the Knicks want to give him a 3 year deal?
Javale McGee traded to Cleveland
Anakim : 11/22/2020 7:38 pm : link
Guess he'll back up Drummond

I don't think this hurts the Knicks at all.
It's a easy to move contract and if he works out he is locked up for very little.
It's a stupid move for Rivers who is his agent to talk him into that deal?
man, the Ed Davis era is over already
Del Shofner : 11/22/2020 7:43 pm : link
- bummer.

Doesn't hurt the Knicks really, but IDK why they would give Austin Rivers a three-year deal
Sounds like Marc Gasol will sign with the Lakers

Gasol signed with Lakers.
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 11/22/2020 7:45 pm : link
Damn you Marc.
I'm
Jon in NYC : 11/22/2020 7:45 pm : link
actually less upset with the Rivers deal now. I figured it was like 1 year 8 mil. This is one mil more than the vet min per year. Basically chump change. Now I'm not sure if Rivers is actually a good player, but the contract is negligible.
The Lakers have had a really good FA right now.
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 11/22/2020 7:46 pm : link
Dammit all to hell.
This is one guy the Knicks should definitely kick the tires on:

Vincent Goodwill
@VinceGoodwill
The Pistons are expected to waive and stretch recent acquisition Zhaire Smith following trade for Tony Bradley, sources say
I think it's
Jon in NYC : 11/22/2020 7:48 pm : link
pretty clear that the Knicks don't value Frank and/or DSJ very highly. And maybe they shouldn't, but you dont bring in two vet stopgap PGs if you like the young options you have at the position.
Knicks still have 18 million in space
nygiants16 : 11/22/2020 7:57 pm : link
Randle,Dsj, Frank a couple kf 2nds for Westbrook works under the cap..
Wow
Jon in NYC : 11/22/2020 7:59 pm : link
it gets better:

The final two years of Austin Rivers’ three-year deal with the Knicks are non-guaranteed, per SNY sources. He has a three-year, $10 million deal, ESPN reports.
Feels like cap guru Brock Aller

is living up to his hype. We’ll see about the rest of the gang.

Uhhhh, does Austin Rivers have an agent? That's a terrible deal for him.
When you have LBJ and AD
Carl in CT : 11/22/2020 8:01 pm : link
You tell all the free agents who you are taking. Very easy.

We haven’t spent any money. A five year old could do his job this year. Whomever is calling the shots need to get rid of Randle and have someone eats Noah’s $6m for not only this year but next year. Then we need to put a team together.
Anyone have an idea
Carl in CT : 11/22/2020 8:06 pm : link
How many future picks we have now? Years and rounds?
You cant trade the Noah salary.....
Italianju : 11/22/2020 8:08 pm : link
And I’m sure trading randle is easier said then done. I

off the top of my head..

2 1sts in 21, 1 1st and 1 2nd 22, 2 1sts in 23 5 2nds 23 i believe
I would just Randle play it out
Carl in CT : 11/22/2020 8:15 pm : link
We have the room and only $4m guaranteed next year so he might be in play around the deadline I believe.
They announced the Burkes signing
nygiants16 : 11/22/2020 8:16 pm : link
will be interesting to see when they announce the Payton signing, if they wait, that means they are using the room exception and are planning on using the 23 million in space

Carl in CT : 11/22/2020 8:20 pm : link
On the ball again.
Randle can be a deadline move
larryflower37 : 11/22/2020 8:46 pm : link
Based on injuries,playoff push,etc.
Similar to Marcus Morris last season.

i like the spellman add....
Italianju : 11/22/2020 8:58 pm : link
he has had some decent games when he gets minutes. Dont know much about Evans, but at least they are both young. And we literally gave up nothing.

There was a mention by Berman that we may waive both.
Would you make this trade??
larryflower37 : 11/22/2020 11:46 pm : link
The Hypothetical Trade

Knicks Receive: Kemba Walker

Celtics Receive: Dennis Smith Jr., Julius Randle, 2021 1st Round Pick (via DAL), 2023 1st Round Pick (via DAL)

Trade idea - ( New Window )
Not exactly convinced Kemba is worth two firsts
Ten Ton Hammer : 11/23/2020 8:17 am : link
But they are just Dallas Firsts.

Why would the Celtics do that?

Why it’s because they would be getting back the oh so talented Dennis Smith JR and all that potential.

Dennis Smith has ZERO value. As in NO value. He’s one more failed reclamation project away from being thrown out of the NBA for good. These articles and takes that reference Smith as someone who actually carries weight just kill me.
