More Colombo / Judge

This tweet thread seems most logical.

I’ll delete if it’s been posted elsewhere.

I'm starting to believe that Silver's version did come from Colombo's

camp. His version is the only where Judge doesn't step in to fix the O-line the last couple of months, I believe.

Yeah and that was only version that omitted that part.
This seems...

It does suck though. I was pumped when we hired Colombo. But I'm with Judge until he proves otherwise.
So it sounds like Judge DID tell Colombo

shocked!
You could make the
Dankbeerman : 11/20/2020 5:44 pm : link
assumption that Zeitler was on notice about potentialy losing snaps because something changed in him specifically Zeitler had almost 0 chance of being a piece moving forward after 5 weeks. Now while not 100% hes back his chances have doubled I would say as he has gotten back to being a positive piece. I can see why a coach wouldnt want to bench a guy that responded as well as Zietler did.

I would want every position coach to fight for his guys but understand that Judge has final say. Just fight more responsibly then what seems tonhave happend.

If his chances doubled from 0% aren't they still 0%?
If Silver's info did come from Colombo, then he sounds like a dick

He liked a tweet last night if his face knocking out Judge’s face in a punchout video.
All that matters to me
darren in pdx : 11/20/2020 5:55 pm : link
is that Judge stepped in and the o-line started playing better. That says a lot about him as a coach. Given what we’ve been told about him as a teacher, I wouldn’t be shocked that he learns everything he can from all the coaches he’s worked with and can effectively teach those same concepts to players. He must have picked up quite a few things from the Patriot’s o-line coach that gets talked up quite a bit.

He’s trying to craft an alternate narrative that doesn’t make him look like an asshole, bc he’s worried about future job prospects.

Belicheck was the son of a football scout.
Del Shofner : 11/20/2020 7:08 pm : link
He was breaking down film as a kid, as I understand it.

Judge seems to have a similar mentality. Like there is no detail of football he hasn't observed closely, forming an opinion how to do it best.

I could see an AC viewing this as horning in on the AC's job. That doesn't mean I think it was wrong to fire Columbo.
The common thread in all these reports
an_idol_mind : 11/20/2020 7:08 pm : link
is that Judge got involved in the o-line to fix technique issues, that Colombo wasn't doing things the way the head coach wanted, and that the two got heated.

Whether Judge was in the right or not regarding the disagreement, getting rid of Colombo was probably the right move. It's hard to build a team when you've got somebody on the coaching staff butting heads with the head coach.

This has to be Judge's team, and he has to be allowed to do things his way. Maybe it won't work out, but he's got no chance at success if he has a subordinate getting in his face in front of the players.

The Giants are doing a good job with damage control by controlling the narrative.. problem is people talk and the truth always finds a way out beyond the beat writers.

Hahahahaha. So Stapleton has a different version than your “sources” so it’s him taking the company line while your sources are the ones being truthful? Of course. Of course it is

I stopped reading after it said Judge fired Offensive Coordinator Marc Columbo.
The color thrown at JJ in thr Silver report is the type
BelieveJJ : 11/20/2020 10:25 pm : link
of "above and beyond". The stuff about Brady, and "former Belicek officials denigrating Tom Terrific" really has zero bearing on what went down between Judge and Colombo. It is exactly this introduction of gratuitous shade thrown on JJ that makes me, for one, very suspicious of the whole report.

Sooner or later the facts about whether or not Judge really did intervene re Gate's technique, and if that intervention helped Gates play better...

That much will come out for sure.

So are you saying the narrative is false? Judge got his ass beat or Colombo was the sh$t? what exactly are you trying to say?
Listen guys...
BC Eagles94 : 11/20/2020 10:35 pm : link
as I said on another thread. I know Columbo...and he is an insecure, Mass-hole bitch. He was my year at BC and I was buddyies with a couple of his best friends on the team. But he went out of his way to belittle people for no reason who were literally half his size. He was always a big man in a little insecure body, who had to make himself feel better about himself by making others feel intimidated.

I like the Giants, but BC football will always be my #1. Look at my handle. Columbo is the only BC guy I can remember that I didn't root for once they got to NFL, and it was perfect for me when he ended up on Cowboys. He he is a head class douche bag, the epitome of a Mass-hole, and a complete hothead.

With all that said, I am not sold on Judge being some savior like many others here. He can very likely be another loser notched in the belt of Giants head coaches since Coughlin. But knowing Columbo, I have to take Judge's side here. There is no way the insecure, big tough guy (Columbo) could have taken Judge's criticism in any good way. I'm sure he flew off the handle. And good riddance.

What has he ever proven in the NFL as a coach? He coached a bunch of pro bowlers, that he just had to hang out with. And with his NFL career and stature he commanded their respect. Our OL needs real coaching, and apparently Columbo wasn't cut out for it. This new guy's resume is long and is probably way more appropriate for the job.
The other really suspicious tell about Judge's
BelieveJJ : 11/20/2020 10:38 pm : link
"haughty" attitude and behavior, is that very clearly his players love him. Or at least feel really, really good about him. We've seen it aplenty.

Does a haughty person earn that respect? Would a haughty person, especially one who is extremely demandin of his underlings, keep that repect after the Giants' 0-5 start and excruciating loses?

Come on now, what makes sense here?
Who gives a flying F....

Judge fired the coach from the worst performing group..GOOD.

Especially good if its true that Judge was aiding that group and said group have improved since his involvement.

Why are people complaining about a head coach that holds his subordinates accountable?

You misunderstood or perhaps I was too vague..

The Giants are playing damage control as any team would, and they're doing a good job at it. That's a compliment.

The problem is, eventually the truth slips out. That's no slight against Art. He's just sharing what he's heard just like I shared what I heard. I've said this before countless times. Usually, within hours or the first few days of something happening ie: draft picks, FA's, coaching hires/interviews, etc you will hear different variations of what will happen or how it all went down. So you try to sort through the trash (speculation/guessing). Then, after a few weeks, you hear more. This is when you get as closest to the truth as you can without actually being in the room. So give it some time, we'll hear more in the coming weeks.
