NFT: Nets Re-Sign Joe Harris

looie : 11/21/2020 7:22 am
4 years, $75M. As a Nets fan, I’m very happy. Excellent player who fits well in their system. Now, perhaps add Serge Ibaka if they can afford him and this team is set. Tired of Harden rumors — don’t need him. Nets fans, weigh in.
He’s a valuable piece, albeit a complementary one.

I’ll leave it to the NBA cap mavens to weigh in on whether exercising their “Bird Rights” on Harris is a good use of the Nets’ resources.
Solid pro.

I heard him on a podcast with Zach Lowe a year or so ago & came across like a good dude too.
he took a big discount on his last deal so glad he cashed in & stayed

with where they are re: the cap it's not the biggest deal that this is probably 1 year longer a little richer than ideal.

Ibaka would be a really nice add, especially if they can find a way to dump off Taurean Prince.

Roberson would be a nice pickup for the end of the bench as well.
Glad he's back

Count me in the no the Harden crowd too. Don't want to give up all that is being mentioned for him. I think LeVert can fill that #3 role, and will be content with less touches. I kinda think that something may happen with Dinwiddie now. I don't think he's going to be happy with how he falls in the pecking order there now.

Dinwiddie is probably the most sensible trade chip right now but I'm not sure I'd trade him until the deadline to hedge against another injury to Kyrie. The current roster is Kyrie injury proof and if he got hurt and they needed to add another piece at the deadline they probably could by absorbing $ with the salary exception and picks or Allen. Especially if they add Ibaka, they will have some other movable pieces.

I agree that I wouldn't trade Levert. He is a good value and adds defense/length/athleticism that they need. All he needs to do is get a little more consistent from 3 and he's probably good enough to be the 3rd piece.
I like the team as is

Absolutely no interest in Harden. Doesn't seem like a match chemistry wise and will cost a lot of our depth. Getting him may destroy any interest I have in the NBA.

Have no interest in getting rid of Levert as the only negative in his game is injuries. No interest in getting rid of Jarrett Allen either. Stud defensively and nice athleticism for the transition game.

I can understand that Dimwiddie may not be a match chemistry wise and alone could bring back a talented player.
Very happy for him

Worked his butt off as an end of the bench guy and G-leaguer to get a shot in the league and made the most of it.

Am I the only one out there who would rather have Dinwiddie over Kyrie at the point? I mean, Kyrie's an all-world talent but is what you give up in injuries, attitude, and team chemistry worth it? Yeah, I know: Durant and Kyrie are as a package deal, but...
Kyrie

I don’t like him as a player. Would never have signed him. Always hurt..
No Kyrie =

no Durant. It was always a package deal. Hopefully the latter keeps the former in line. Excited for the season to start. East has some good teams, but Brooklyn can be tops.
Brooklyn needs Dinwiddie

No way does Kyrie stay healthy
As a Virginia fan, I love Joe Harris

ultimate team player, hard worker, good kid. Even as a Knicks fan, I was hoping he would re-sign with Brooklyn. He's a great piece for them because he doesn't have an ego, doesn't require the ball, and gives full effort on both ends. For a team like Brooklyn that already has two high-usage mega stars that draw attention, he can just space out the floor and make hard cuts and be a guy that makes it really hard for teams to guard everyone. His shooting ability makes it harder to collapse on Durant/Kyrie, and he gives enough effort and has enough size on defense that he isn't a liability (even if he lacks some lateral quickness).

He's a B version of Klay Thompson. Same height and weight, both catch-and-release shooters that play well without the ball. It's such a coincidence that Tony Bennett recruited Klay Thompson to Washington State where they went to the Sweet 16, and Joe committed to Tony at Washington State as well, but came with Tony to Virginia.
