What tune are you digging right now?
I have been listening to too much news and sports talk radio for the past year that I have fell behind in my first true love of music.
Any new music worth sharing?
Or classics to revisit?
Underground? (with or without Velvet)
This page is always good for a music wormhole to dive into.
Thanks in advance.

Men I Trust
All artists I've found in the last month or two. All good vibes.
I hear you, my friend!
I am going to check out the above suggestions. Maybe you can do the same?
An open mind has limitless roads.
Dave Hause - Patty/Paddy - covers of Patty Griffin and Dillinger Four
The Menzingers - From Exile
Bouncing Souls - Volume 2
Talking Heads, after watching their HBO Max special ‘American Utopia’
There is one song/video that I have to play when listening to and watching videos that is much newer by Santana, "Smooth."
Santana - Smooth - ( New Window )
Nursery Crimes
Genesis - Wind and Wuthering
Deftones - Ohms
This 8 1/2 minute piece from 2001 may be his signature song. Slow build, intense lyrics, big finish.
Long Blue Train - ( New Window )
Waxahatchee
Old Crow Medicine Show
Tom Petty Wildflower and All The Rest ( second disc of songs that didn't make the original album.)
I bought the 9 LP version with all the demos and alternate takes.
Genesis - Wind and Wuthering
Deftones - Ohms
Nice, same here. I just associate Neil Young and some others with autumn.
Same with The Amazing, a ridiculously good band from Sweden that ranges from psych folk to prog rock. They may be my favorite band of the last 10 years and I really can't overstate their talent as musicians.
My Morning Jacket released a new one last spring, The Waterfall II. Apparently The Waterfall was conceived as a triple album. I love those guys but Jim James has been fully submerged in hubris territory for at least 8 years now. But this is really, really good, IMO the best thing they've done since Z.
Can definitely notice the Blink-182 influence since Travis Barker got involved with him, but still maintains a unique blended sound.
Tickets to my Downfall is the best album I've heard in forever.
Any pop/punk fans or even those Gen-Xers who like the grunge/alternative you will like it.
My dad has HIS music on in the car and I desperately wanted to change it, but it sunk in, and it helped the they kept promoting the games.
His record “Glad You Made It” was released this year but he has another great record he put out last year. Both records are terrific from first track to the last. He also plays with a band called the Ottoman Turks who I haven’t fully explored yet. There were a couple of weeks this year where all I would listen to was JRW. The music is legit. Rolling Stone review linked below.
Another artist on heavy repeat this year has been a Cave People. I saw this band in Philly last year, had not heard them before, listened a lot ever since. It’s an indie project of Dave Tomaine and he actually put out a new record recorded during the pandemic. Lotta good music coming out of Philly.
Glad You Made It review in RS - ( New Window )
Vintage Denon DP 60L, how about you?

We had the same childhood.
I still have the jingle in my head...“1130.....11THREEEEEOHhhhhhhhh......W.........NEW........NewYoooooooooork!”

Thanks for the tip on The Amazing. I’ll check them out. I’m with you on MMJ in that they kinda lost me after Z - though they’re so damn good live that I still kept up with them. With that said, I actually loved Waterfall 1 and really like 2 as well.
The rest? Never heard of
Guess I just listen to too much metal
Here is my current playlist
Mr bungle “ the raging wrath of the Easter bunny”. Pretty great
New kill or be killed
Rob zombie. First song off his upcoming release called “ the lunar injection kool aid eclipse conspiracy. - the triumph of king freak. Great song
You can never go wrong with Neil. Such an incredible talent. I have so much of his music, but his live performances at "Massey Hall" and "The Cellar Door" are always compelling.

Id go through their stuff chronologically, theres a definite progression from folk to prog while always under that psychedelic umbrella. The first, Gentle Stream, is probably my favorite but Picture You is a legit achievement as a piece of art.
Feel the same way about MMJ. Used to follow them for stretches of the summer from 04-12 and still check them out anytime theyre on the Meriweather/Philly/NYC stretch. So many great times and a great crew of fans that I got to know well over the years.
I wasn't huge into that scene, generally speaking its not my kind of music, but something about those guys hooked me. Id still count Geoff Rickly among my favorite frontmen. You wanna talk about someone who leaves it all out there? That guy did the stage-equivalent of an iron man triathlon. The New Years shows at the Starland Ballroom are legendary.

Been listening to them a ton lately, almost every day. Just a kick I got on. One of my very favorite bands from back in the aughts. Was huge into that scene and still listen to all my favorites and occasionally attend shows.

Hells yeah and they still did those up til a year or two ago even though they haven’t been fully active in a decade. I went to one of those shows that they recorded for the CD and DVD, Kill The House Lights. Absolutely awesome.
Like I’m hearing him for first time all over again.
Charlie Porter Immigration Nation
The Who- Quadrophenia
The Clash - The Clash (First Album)
Midnight Oil- Diesel and Dust
Replacements - Tim
Silversun Pickups- Better Nature
Metric - Fantasies
and one I dug out from the archives I hadnt listen to in YEARS----REM-Chronic Town
Red Fiction 'Visions of the Void'
Titan to Tachyons 'Cactides'
John Zorn 'Baphomet'
Frannie - ( New Window )

If you like Dire Straits, check out some of Knopfler's solo work: Get Lucky, Ragpickers Dream, Sailing to Philadelpia, Tracker and a great one with Emmylou Harris entitled All the Roadrunning. He never makes a bad album and they're always perfectly engineered so they sound magnificent.
Nice set up. When I upgraded originally, I decided I wanted to go vintage first, because I felt I could get a little bang for my buck on a budget. So I bought the Denon, and I paired it with a 1973 Marantz 2245, which has a really nice, warm phono stage. I wanted to buy a set that I would keep when I eventually upgrade again. So I can have both a vintage and modern set up.
I do clean records, but still by hand. A nice VPI like the one you have is next up. I do know what a difference they make.
