The NY times simulator shows a slight advantage to NYG for a WAS win. The simulator shows little or no advantage overall, but if I plug in a NYG win over CIN (seemingly a necessary step for NYG) the difference comes out to a 35% (WAS win) vs 31% (DAL win) chance for NYG.
It's a slight effect because even though the Giants have swept WAS, they can also get a tiebreak advantage over DAL (or DAL/WAS 3-way) by beating DAL. A win over DAL in week 17 appears to be a likely necessary step for getting in anyway.
2. I’d rather DAL didn’t have much to play for in Week 17, if for instance we are fighting PHI and/or WAS in Week 17 rather than DAL.
3. It’s always a good day for DAL to lose.
This fits nicely.

Sums it up. Dallas has an easier schedule left too. Washington isn't going to finish with seven wins.
Thinking strategically here....

Worrying about the draft is foolish. So is assuming Dak comes back and is the same player he has been.
Thinking strategically here....
Are you sure you are?
Washington, at least historically, had good knowledgable football fans and great coach in Joe Gibbs, and they now have a fine coach in Rivera...
I hate McCarthy's fat ass and they way he couldn't acknowledge Coghlin's Giants' stuffing of his teams TWICE in the playoffs, he's as ungracious as they come.
So he's perfect for the Cowboys, and I hope Rivera and the WTF and Alex Smith beat him and the Cowboys like a red headed step child.
Screw the Cowboys, especially on National TV, and extra especially that their only classy citizen, Dak Prescott, is on the sideline with a serious injury.

AMEN brother!
It was interesting yesterday that in the NYC area, FOX showed GB at IND instead of DAL at MIN. Usually with no Giants game networks would put the Cowboys practicing their social distancing over any other game.
Case in point, many have written off the Eagles.
I ve always felt it was tough going through a schedule picking wins and losses, was Dallas suppose to have a win yesterday?
But here is what I believe to be a reasonable take regarding this division:
7-9 has a very high probability of going by to the playoffs, 6-10 has a reasonable chance.
Giants have a chance to get to either of those, if they do and 1 of those 3 or 4 wins comes against Dallas, we have a good chance to be watching the Giants in the playoffs.
My long winded way of stating, l ll be rooting for Washington, but Giants in a sense control their own destiny so it really isn’t as important as it could be

Only a fool would have written off Dallas with Dalton coming back and playing another mediocre team of the bye. Especially as they have looked better since they cut the malcontents. Vikes have been hot, but their defense is still trash.
I was shocked to see the Eagles as the favorites still. They have been playing garbage football and it would be a shock if they turned it around.
3 wins, as long as one of those is against Dallas, will get us to the playoffs. WFT would have lost to the Bengals at home if Burrow didn't blow up his leg. Now obviously COVID can hit, or some random big time injuries, but that should do it.

Dallas in Dallas.
Of course they can. This isn't waltzing into a packed stadium against a quality team. WFT has the DL to swamp the Cowboys. They look fine against teams with bad DLs which is what Minnesota now has minus Ngakuoe, Griffen and Hunter that group is just bad. Stopping the WFT front isn't going to be easy and I expect WFT to win even with all of DAL weapons.
Football is always a game of matchups. Vikes were 7 pt favorites because they were home and their offense has been hot, but that defense is still trash. Cowboys O looks functional with Dalton. Just like this week if the Giants O does'nt score at least 27 against this pitiful D we have major issues, even if we win. It's why I like us against Cards, but probably expect to lose the SEA game.

Going into the finale, Giants win and their in.
I know I have SF sweeping our NFC east counterparts, but lets face it, they are a team capable of playing well beyond their 4-6 record. Their record is more a reflection of a very tough division they've played in. They are the one team this year against the Giants that the Giants were not even a little bit competitive against.
Only real trickery here is we beat AZ and PHI loses to them, but remember that PHI has to go to PHI and we get them at home in December. Hoping that makes a difference.
Flip that game and this Thursday game becomes even more important.
An extra note: I really think the NYG needs to build upon its winning ways. Beating Cincy is a start. We need to beat at least one, of not two of the legit playoff contenders remaining on our schedule (SEA, AZ, CLE, BAL), not just to make the playoffs this year but for the team's long-term development.
DAL needs to lose this Thursday. Plus my Thanksgiving is always so much greater when I see Mr. Jerry Jones upset in his booth.
Dal will lose to Bal and SF and the NYG will lose to Sea and Bal. That leaves Dal having to win 2 more games than NYG out of NYG (Cinn/Az/Clv) and Dal (Wash/Cinn/PHL). Even if Dal somehow sweeps, all's we would need is 2 wins out of Cinn/Az/Clv to make the last game the determining game.

Dallas gets Baltimore after playing the Steelers and we actually match up very well with them. Writing off losses in the NFL is dumb. This division is not the same as it was playing in September, that much is clear.

This...except Dallas cheerleaders w Texas accents are acceptable....
Also, 4% is 4%, any way you slice it.

We seem to be in the minority. I agree with you.
Dallas still has all sorts of problems. Skins aren't that bad
So In one sense we should root for Dallas to beat Wash
If Wash wins I don't like it, but can deal with it.

Lets face it, the NFC East will not do much outside of the division, especially any strength outside the division. Instead of counting wins, it is easier to count losses.

I agree. There's a handful of teams trending upward right now and a bunch trending downward. This is such a unique year that I don't know how any team that gets into the dance can be counted out.
Ohh and the ultimate wildcard is the playoffs will be happening during COVID still. Look at the big names likely out this week - it isn't going to magically go away for the playoffs.
2) Dallas schedule is easier
3) we beat Washington twice and hold tie breaker
4) small but a home loss is always better (covid less impt)
It’s better for the Giants if Wash wins.
