Josh Allen (Jags)

Jersey Heel : 11/23/2020 6:54 pm
I wanted him over Jones and was pissed, to say the least, when we passed up on him. He had a very good rookie year, but seems to have disappeared this year. Is it injuries? Just curious because I honestly don’t know what the deal is with him.
He was injured on Sunday vs Steelers

Allen has had a tough second season with the Jaguars. He has just 2.5 sacks and 11 QB hits, both of which lead the team, and has already missed two other games because of a separate knee injury. Allen made the Pro Bowl as a rookie last season after posting a franchise rookie record 10.5 sacks.
Last year he had Yannick

On the other siide. Without another DE, he is getting a lot more attention. Dealing with a knee injury also lately.
I haven't followed his career at all...

But when you're on a team with a lousy offense that is generally behind in the score, you don't get as many pass rush opportunities. The fact that his 2 1/2 sacks leads the team is a pretty good indication that there is more to it than just him.

Sounds reasonable, but I think it's interesting that our draft picks never seem to get the same benefit of the doubt around here.
That offense is also behind

because the defense gets ran over. They actually have some nice pieces on offense, and we’re running on Pitt in the first quarter but had to abandon the run once they went down 2 scores. The each affect the success of the other but that defense stinks and he’s part of it.

I remember when Chad Bratzke left the Giants and Strahan struggled a bit that the comments were trending that “if you don’t have 2 good defensive ends, you don’t have one” or something like that.

I remember my dad being really pissed they let Bratzke go.
Funny you mention him..

The only time I have heard his name at all is people talking about the other Josh Allen.

What's funny is Bratzke really benefitted from having Strahan on the other side, he was a complimentary DE but not a dominant one.

I remember Strahan got that fat contract after 97 or 98 and everyone started calling him $trahan because his sack numbers were way down.
