I'm not one who roots against the Jets and I'd love to see them land Lawrence. Shades of Joe Namath out of Alabama. Not their personalities, but in terms of star power and hype. If it isn't the Giants that bring him to NYC, let it be the Jets.
That being said, I think they're more likely to win another game than the Jaguars and I think the Jags get first pick if the two teams finish tied. I could be wrong about that.
I can see being indifferent, but IMO your affection seems to go beyond indifference toward some positive emotions.
Same here. I never had a problem with them until Rex arrived. I hope they end up with the #2 pick and surprise everyone and take Trey Lance who goes on to be another bust.
There is no way the Jets are winning two games. They won’t win one.
Would be a nice parting gift for Gase & Darnold to give the Jets.
p.s.--I moved from NYC thirty years ago and it's possible that had I stayed in the city (where the rivalry is in your face) I might feel differently. I used to hate the Mets more than the Red Sox when I lived in the city, but now I root for them as my second favorite team. So maybe being away from the city has something to do with it or maybe I'm just more mature with age.
If both teams have 1 loss I’m guessing the strength of schedule would favor the Jets but I haven’t looked that up.
I think the bigger point is that I don’t want him in the division. It’s very unlikely now but I would much prefer facing Lawrence once every four years or in the Super Bowl to 2x a season.

I have three good friends who are Jets fans and would like to see them happy. Plus I think it will be good for NYC and there's no way the Giants are landing him.

Possibly I guess.
But it seems like your relationship with your friends is strange.
I, like a normal person, root against my friends sports happiness when it's not aligned with my sports happiness.
You root for your friends happiness no matter what, like a psychopath.
"We are in a better spot than the Giants. Trevor Lawrence> Daniel Jones"
"Jets are set up to have a dynasty..Lawrence, new coach, draft picks, cap space" etc
It's annoying to listen to these takes. The guy hasn't even declared yet and the Jets are far from a lock for the #1 pick with Jacksonville looking pretty awful. The Jets may have to go 0-16 to secure the top pick for Lawrence.
Haha agreed.
I don’t want to hate the jets but when they are good their fans are insufferable. Actually they are insufferable all the time but worse if they actually have a good team.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Lawrence here in the ny area but all in all I don’t really want to see jets win. They annoy me.
I always find it funny when a player is called a can’t miss savior. We’ll see I guess. Jets are so devoid of talent and they always seem to fuck things up. Some good runs here and there but it never lasts and they are in a brutal rut even by their standards.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind. It might be interesting to watch his transition to the NFL.

Your friends are idiots. You'd think they'd learn their lesson from Darnold. Of course I guess you can say the same about this place with the miraculous top 5 draft pick is going to turn around a whole football team. 95 percent of the time that isn't the case, esepcially if you aren't drafting a QB.

The only thing your friends are right about in this post is Lawrence being better than Jones.
Be nice to see them on the upswing.

Now I F'ing hate them. I hope they go 0-16, Lawrence stays at Clemson, & Beningo cries for days. F that organization. I F'ing hate that we even share a F'ing stadium with them.
Same here. I never had a problem with them until Rex arrived. I hope they end up with the #2 pick and surprise everyone and take Trey Lance who goes on to be another bust.

The only way the Jets win a game is if they go into the last week 0-15 and the Jags are 1-14 and the Patriots are out of contention. Belichick might decide to throw the game to prevent the Jets from drafting Lawrence.
The Jets are like that annoying dweeb we all knew in High School that was always saying "look at me!" They have Little Brother Syndrome and hate when the Giants do well. Add to that the WFAN has a full day of Jets' fans as their hosts and it just gets old listening to their tales of glory "almost making the Super Bowl" in 2009 and '10.
They love to revel in their own misery, so why take it away from them?
The odds are stacked against Lawrence being an all time great, but he has a better shot than almost any other rookie QB if you look at the odds pre-draft.
Rather they not get that type of talent. Didn't the Mets capture the city over the Yankees in the 80s? Yeah, no thanks - not tempting fate.
A Mahomes/P. Manning-esque player on the Jets is something I'd prefer to not have. But better out of the conference and especially out of the division.
I can see being indifferent, but IMO your affection seems to go beyond indifference toward some positive emotions.
One positive of the Jets taking Lawrence is that the other NFC East teams didn't get him.
Let me fix that.
"Just keep Lawrence out of the NFC and away from the Patriots."
Be nice to see them on the upswing.
I agree. I like the Jets. But they are just like the Knicks and Mets bad ownership, bad coaching staffs and bad decisions.
Gase needs to go now. He ruins careers. I would like them to get better.
However, even if they do land Lawrence, they still need to build up the rest of the team and coaching staff.
I long for the 80's, when ALL of the above were playing well and the games against them were EPIC battles, the wins and losses having so much more meaning.
Yes, I hope the Jets and NFC East teams get their shit together, and I hope the Giants are better than all of them.
No chance. Jets aren't winning 2 games.
It would be more likely for them to get Peyton'd - where Lawrence would just go back to school. Which is literally what Peyton did to the Jets in 1997 when they had the #1 overall pick.
Still much less than us so....still good.
I think it's the media and the way they go about things. That's what fuels the fire. They have there agenda's,and the New York one is obvious.
