This seems insane to me, but what do I know. Not because of the relative values, but because they're two AL East rivals. Snell to Yanks? - ( New Window )
Cole and Snell would be the best 1-2 punch in baseball
I’m sure the Rays would trade Blake Snell to the Yankees. With an enormous Yankee tax included.
I’d be very cautious doing business with the Rays. They are a smart organization that typically destroys teams in deals. Add in the fact that they hate the Yankees, I just don’t see a deal to be had here
would never risk the embarrassment of losing a high profile trade like that even with his lifetime appointment ensuring there would not be any consequences.
Can you imagine any other GM in any sport in history getting to spend 2 billion dollars in payroll over 20 years to win one championship while gifting a mediocre OF a 150 million dollars when you've already got the same player on your roster, probably a better version, for a fraction of the price and then trading for another flawed OF with a 250 million dollar contract when you already have same player on your roster, definitely a better version, for an even smaller fraction of the price and still having a job?
if Cashman pissed in your Cheerios, but it is clear he's done something more dastardly. Like shit on your dining room table and then smeared your face in it like brown, whipped cream.
I think Yanks are tired of waiting for him to become consistent with his hitting and catching. Wonder what his value is ? He could hit .150 for you or he could be league MVP. I would think he could bring a solid starter at least.
And people wonder why other teams fans hate Yankee fans
Moaning and groaning about making the playoffs every year and not winning championships is one of the big reasons. Most other organizations would gladly trade their track record for the Yanks.
Thoughtful fans who don't use payroll as a measuring stick recognize that the playoff outcomes are a matter of luck as teams are more evenly matched in the playoffs and small differences that are often outside the control of the team decide the outcomes.
not sure why anyone bothers with Randal's posts anymore

Word around the league is there is very little interest in Sanchez. Yankees might have to just hold onto him and hope he bounces back or sell low.

I doubt it. I think the best the Yanks could hope for in a trade would to take back an overpriced vet with a prospect. I think most teams would view Sanchez as a "change of scenery" lotto ticket and not value him at much more than that.
Just as an example (because I seriously doubt the two teams would even consider trading with each other), if the Yanks were to trade Sanchez to TB (who does need a C), the Rays would probably demand that the Yanks take back Keirmeier in return.
The only other option that I could see is if MLB and the MLBPA agree to a permanent DH in the NL, some NL team short on power bats might view Sanchez as a reasonable risk at DH- but only at a low cost.
beat said he spoke to multiple sources and the Rays are looking to move Snell is they can get a monster return. Voit? What is the Post smoking? He's 29 and arbitration eligible, this is the Rays we are talking about.

That is getting old, try another post about the Yanks.
I wasn't thrilled with either Ellsbury or Stanton
on the roster, when they already had similar players,
but gotta move on...it becomes counter-productive otherwise I would say.
BTW, no way I see a trade like this happening with the Yanks, now that Morton is gone from the Rays.

The Post mentioned Garcia/Schmidt as well in this scenario.
says sources told him the Mariners couldn't land Snell without one of Rodriguez, Lewis or Kelenic and that's without any potential AL East tax so the price is very, very high as it should be.
but why the hell are the Rays looking to trade Snell? He has a team friendly contract through 2023, and they just made the World Series. Seems a bit weird no?

Would be the #1 or #2 best P available, this is what they do... spreading around the wealth. They will aim extremely high or keep him. this isn't a Lindor where it's a 90% chance he's dealt. If they can get a monster return it makes sense for them.

Such a fucking miserable fan.
