Did Dave Gettleman do a presser over the bye?

mattlawson : 11/25/2020 11:41 am
Reese used to do them - I cannot recall whether DG has done them or not on the bye week. Did I miss it if he did hold a presser this year?
I was hoping this thread would inspire

Pretty sure he never has. Too busy planning his meal this year.

does not do press conferences during the season. He didn't do them in carolina as well. He does them after the season, prior to the draft and before the season starts.
Reality is the GM should not speak mid season..

so I do not blame the guy at all.
no reason to speak the media

Did Jerry Reese ever speak to the media. As I recall he never spoke other than the mandatory end of the year and around the draft and have no issue with either one not speaking.
Reese did bye week pressers..

Gettleman does not. You’ll hear from him after the season.

Here’s a Knock on Gettleman

Another one. I find it hard to believe that Gettleman could not have traded down a few picks and probably still drafted Thomas or at worst case, drafted one of the other 3 OTs who look good. I find it hard to believe that he couldn’t have finagled something out of Miami to get Tua. I could see questions about Tua’s health and size. But, the way Herbert has been playing and the potential he’s shown, I find it impossible to believe that someone did not want to move up to grab him or that Gettleman couldn’t make SD believe that was the case. Herbert is the very definition of a franchise QB. I don’t know who or what but Herbert should not have been there for SD to pick at 6 with the Giants needing an OT and 3 or 4 top OT prospects available. I wonder if Gettleman didn’t even try to trade down because he was so wrapped up with a player as he’s prone to do. Sorry to miller the thread.
I hope he does a presser very soon.

Back to this again. If the dolphins or chargers wanted their quarterbacks bad enough, then they would have traded up and I'm not just talking about us. The lions were looking to trade out. They were content to stay where they were and let the quarterbacks fall to them without paying a heavy price.

Gettleman said prior to the draft that he was open to trading down for the right price. You don't just take a deal for the sake of it

quiet !!

the narrative we have to stick with is that it is easy to trade down and Gettleman sucks.

Then, if he does trade down we are obligated to say he got fleeced.

Get with the program please!
Trading Down
Samiam : 11/25/2020 6:50 pm : link
Not 100% sure of this but I don’t think he’s ever traded down, at least not in the 1st round. I keep coming back to you SD getting a QB like Herbert who I think is then real deal at 6. Maybe I’m wrong but it’s to believe that someone wouldn’t have made a move to get him. And/or Gettleman should have convinced SD that there was a team that wanted to move up at least ahead of Miami. Gettleman may have said he would have traded down but I think he’s full of crap. In this case, actions speak louder than words.
