NFT: Help Buying Light Bulbs

Samiam : 11/25/2020 11:52 am
Feels like a dumb question but I can’t seem to find the answers. Trying to avoid stores for now and buy online. I need to replace light bulbs in a fan fixture. There are now 7 menorah bulbs that don’t give enough light. There’s not enough room to fit a bulbs in that’s much longer than a menorah bulb. The fan booklet says we should not use more than 15 watt bulbs. Are there 15 watt bulbs with a narrow base that throw out more light than a menorah bulb? Also, I see ads that say something like it’s a 5 watt but is equivalent to 60 watts. Would that be ok if it fit? Any help would be appreciated.
Yeah...

if you get LED bulbs, you can get bulbs that use 5 or 10 or whatever watts that give off the equivalent of much higher wattage conventional bulbs. I assume by menorah bulbs you mean candelabra base. There should be a million options at any home center or hardware store.
Led is the way to go

If you want them brighter choose higher on the temperature scale say 5000. That's a whiter, brighter light which is all I use but some people don't like them. Also make sure they are FAN RATED as some bulbs will fail due to vibration.

You can go much higher wattage equivalent with LEDs as they draw less juice and produce less heat.
Amazon lets you sort by base type

choose the base you need and then find LED with <15 W consumption.
dont have to worry about "fan Rated"

with LED.... All "fan rated" Meant was the manufacturer would use a thicker filament because the vibration of the fan would ultimately break thinner filaments... LED lamps do not use filaments...
I don't know if this applies to you, but some light bulbs are not

meant to be used facing downward (as from the ceiling).

It also raises the question of: how many BBIers does it take to change a light bulb? :-)
