The Cowboys strength and conditioning coach. This was the reason Cowboys practice was cancelled earlier in the week.
He was the Giants assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2007-2018. Two Super Bowl titles there, and three more with the Patriots.
Also, a two-time All-American at Syracuse, and played in the NFL for a few years.

Condolences to all close to Coach Paul, including so many in the Giants ORG.
Awful, sad situation. And scary to think if that’s what it related to, how physically fit he was compared to most of the populace. Recognizing of course this may have been happening either way.
I hope his family can find comfort in that he left this world for a better place.
I read this morning it was a heart attack. But I also read yesterday he had passed, so the news has been less than accurate.
A tragedy no matter what. I feel horrible for his family. Thanksgiving will never be the same for the Paul family. RIP Coach.

I figured a heart attack or a massive stroke

Sometimes with a heart attack, the person is "revived" but they are "brain dead" in those cases they may be kept "alive" for a short period to see if things somehow improve. This might explain the contradictory reports.
Does it really matter?
RIP
It's particularly tragic, as you would think a 54 year-old strength and conditioning coach would be one of the more health 54 year-old people in this country.
I know they are the Cowboys but, you never want to see anything like this happen to anyone - especially the supporting personnel.
RIP Mr Paul.
One had chest pains while on a hike and found out through stress testing/cath they had massive blockage.
The other was doing a pre-op physical for some minor procedure when the doc caught something on the EKG.
The first guy said his only "abnormality" was he had chronically borderline/low HDL. The other had no risk factors.
So who knows. It's scary. I guess you can get a stress/echo every couple years to check but I guess genetics is a big part of it too. Sometimes you can only control so much.
