NFC EAST RACE
WAS 4-7 (DIV 3-2; swept by NYG)
Remaining: @PIT, @SF, SEA, CAR, @PHI [27-22-1]
PHI 3.5-6.5 (DIV 2-2; split with NYG)
Remaining: SEA, @GB, NO, @ARI, @DAL, WAS [34-26]
NYG 3-7 (DIV 3-2)
Remaining: @CIN, @SEA, ARI, CLE, @BAL, DAL [30-28-1]
DAL 3-8 (DIV 1-3; beat NYG)
Remaining: @BAL, @CIN, SF, PHI, @NYG [18-30-2]
Giants would be listed 1st here with a win over CIN.
They could stay in first if SEA beats PHI Monday night.

NFC East Tiebreaks
====================================================
TIEBREAKS NOT REQUIRING A TIE GAME TO BE PLAYED:
2-way tie with DAL The team that wins NYG-DAL game in week 17 wins this tiebreak.
2-way tie with WAS: NYG takes this tiebreak due to head to head sweep.
3-way tie with DAL and WAS. NYG take tiebreak if NYG beat DAL OR PHI beat WAS. WAS takes tiebreak if DAL beats NYG AND WAS beat PHI. DAL cannot take tiebreak even though they swept NYG. Note that NYG can lose this tiebreak even though they swept WAS.
TIEBREAKS REQUIRING A TIE GAME TO BE PLAYED:
2-way-tie with PHI: NYG or PHI would have to play a tie game before the end of the season to create this tiebreak. Either team could finish with a better division record and take the tiebreak. If they finish with the same division record NYG take tiebreak if PHI beats either GB or NO. If PHI loses to GB and NO this tiebreak is not yet determined.
(Thanks to RutgersGiantsFan for confirming this.)
3-way tie with PHI and DAL or with PHI and WAS. I’ll defer considering this.
Gotta beat Cincy!!!
Well, that may be true. However, It’s almost indisputable to debate that they are now. Will they go out and roll? I don’t know.
But should they?
Yes.
And if they win the division do they have a shot to be NFC Champions?
Also a “Yes.”
We have nothing less to root for buds.
Let me pour you a glass of Big Blue Kool-aid!
Drink up!
Brandon Allen sucks too. It would be one thing if he was walking into a good offense, but a shitty QB walking into a garbage oline and no RBs. We should win by at least a TD if we are serious about winning East
Quote:
He can play, has some mobility decent arm. Hes got weapons in CIN like he did at DEN. This is no gimme.

Yes. If we can't beat Cincinnati without their qb or rb then we got no business talking about winning the NFCE

Sure but hes better than Ryan Finley, we should still win, buts its not a gimme. Finley was an automatic win, that guy is horrendous.

and possibly a blossoming running game. Who knows with Dallas D, but they did better against the Vikes last week than WFT today. Short week as well, so who knows. Point is I could definitely see them having a couple bounces go there way to 3 wins.
Dallas is finished. I wasn’t surprised McCarthy beat the Vikings. He played against them ALL THE TIME. I chopped that up to familiarity w/ an opponent. Minnesota’s defense is young and all they have as far as impact players are Harrison Smith and Eric Kendricks.
I was referencing more who knows if WFT has a blossoming running game because Dallas D are soft against run. I agree on the Vikes game though, lots of people acting like it was a giant accomplishment, but I saw that as toss up game. Vikes DL is so bad the Cowboys offense was going to function and get the ball in their hands of their playmakers.
DAL is spiraling down
PHI is toast also and good opponents up.
NYG good break beating WFT twice early on, no layups ahead.
Even if we go 3-3 , we will have a shot. 4-2 would work better.
Hopefully be a fun December!

Can we really say their pass rush is all great? Look at what they played the last two weeks. Boys lost two two more starting tackles today, including their best lineman. I do think there’s potential for them to get 3 wins just because they are going to play people close with that defense. Few lucky breaks is all it takes. However, their offense is hideous right now. Smith looks like a different QB out there. They were able to run the ball late because Dallas defense is soft.
NYG win, PHI win 32%
NYG lose, PHI lose 13%
NYG lose, PHI win 6%
NYG win, PHI win 32%
NYG lose, PHI lose 13%
NYG lose, PHI win 6%
The percents being the estimated chance of NYG making playoffs.
This is coming down to the skins and giants. Philly and Dallas are done. Fork. Done.
The reason for this could be:
- That it is still a 3- or 4-team race rather than a 2 team race. resulting in a plurality rather than a majority
- A relatively low Sagarin rating, which would cause the simulator to be more pessimistic about our changes in future games.
Note that the simulator is not just counting outcomes but is doing a Monte Carlo simulation using Sagarin ratings to pick games in thousands of realizations
And one that oddly has had the Giants' number in our limited meetings.
Phil Simms once passed for 513 yards against Cincinnati and LOST THE GAME, for example.
I agree, and although really bad for us, Alex Smith probably deserves it.
I don't care, lets F go Giants.

Need to put that team away early.

I don't really care about the 80s. I know we beat them in 2016 and 2008. Hell, even 2008 doesn't matter anymore.
Even if we go 3-3 , we will have a shot. 4-2 would work better.

We really SHOULD have 2 more wins. We had those games won for 58 min.
Dallas is the easy team on the schedule. They won't have anything easy. they caught Minny at the right time, good for them, but they are a bad bad team right now. They don't block. They don't stop anyone.
It is fun to mock the fake punts, and the last one was criminal, but there's a reason why McCarthy is coaching this team the way he has this season--Dallas can't stop anyone and McCarthy knows it. If he punts the ball there, they still lose.
So you'd rather watch Philly on wild card weekend than the Giants. Because of draft positioning. You are lost.
Quote: WFT has a hc qb and pass rush; a tougher out going forward.

I think pass rush is real, Montez Sweat, Young, Kerrigan, and the other DT inside. You can see the enthusiasm on their sideline, they are feeling it. Some good young CBs, Alex Smith is inspirational. HC is real. I think they are becoming real.

Zeke, I was with you on your first comment with this header, I think WFC looks like they are coming on.

My biggest hesitation with them right now, is that they were going to lose that game to the Bengals at fucking home if Burrow doesn't go down. Zac Taylor, another awful head coach that doesn't see the bigger picture, foolishly went for it on 4th, in a low scoring game where WFT offense looked anemic, at the 5 up 2 on the drive before Burrow got hurt. Beating the Cowboys, when they are a tough matchup for them, doesn't really tell me much, especially with so many bone headed coaching decision. I will say that McLaurin is going to be a major headache if he gets a QB that can get him the ball, game saving tackle on the INT, and was just unanimously voted Captain on the players suggestion. That never happens for WRs, when you have leaders like that on the outside, kind of scary what they can do with some momentum.
The rise of draft fandom has gotten out of hand. There are people worrying about draft position when the team is in the playoff hunt.
Quote:
that wants to see 3 division teams end at 4-12, with the eagles at 4-11-1. Listening to the talking heads lose their minds would be quite humorous and it will also keep the Giants in the top 10 of the draft.
So you'd rather watch Philly on wild card weekend than the Giants. Because of draft positioning. You are lost.
Nope, not lost, just realistic about where this team is. A higher draft pick is more valuable to the rebuilding than a wildcard loss. But hey, if losing on wildcard weekend floats your boat, more power to you.
