What If?

Giantimistic : 11/27/2020 10:17 am
As a baseline and if the team continues to show what we saw in the last 2 wins--Daniel Jones protecting the ball, the defense closing out games and continued good coaching choices. What if the following were to happen?

1) The Giants stay healthy injury and COVID wise.
2) The online keeps getting better and our power run game is solidified as it gets colder.
3) X-man gives us a little more pass rush without the extra blitzing (As a note, we are number 13th in the league as a team for sacks).
4) Xavier McKinney is one of those rookies who is a quick learner and healthy and can contribute sooner than later even after missing all that time? (I think even him not at 100% will be an improvement) Are we able to become more aggressive on defense?

I think there is a good chance of those happening at least to some degree.

Here is one a lot less likely to happen:

5) The light goes on for Even Engram and he becomes a legitimate offensive threat.

If 1 through 4 were to happen, is it just enough to win the division, is it enough to win a playoff game (I think we would need number 5 for the playoff game).

This is somewhat an optimist thread but I am trying to figure out what is the best case, realist situation we can see this year.

The best thing

that can happen is for this team to learn how to win. The reality check is that they are 3-7 with an upward pointing arrow. The only reason we can use the term playoffs is because the rest of the division is struggling as well. Improvement week to week is the goal.
And that’s what Judge keeps

striving for. Be a little better each week.
I agree

with that our goal is improving each week and learning to win. If we can add in playoff experience for a young team even with a loss, there will be a long term benefit.

One interesting item of note, is if the Giants win the division then I believe they will probably have a home game against Arizona, Rams, Tampa Bay or Seattle. That would be the second time we would play those teams and we held up so far against Tampa Bay and the Rams.

I think we will win the division and be competitive in the first playoff game.
Honestly, I think Evan Engrams biggest issue is confidence

Hopefully he saw a sports shrink over the bye. He’s never going to be a good route runner, kinda reminds me of Dez out there with his poor agility, but he is a hands catcher and the biggest thing keeping me from paying him is he needs to be consistent catching the football. Especially considering where he operates in the field, those easy drops tend to end in picks.

NFL level. How hard is it to “go out 7 steps and turn right”?

Lazy route runner I can believe. Round out all your cuts. Don’t turn on your speed coming out of your cuts. I can believe it.
