Two weeks ago gidiefor asked for someone to step up and start the game thread for the Eagles game. I did and broke the curse. So I’m starting the game thread today to keep things moving in the right direction. Sorry for the early start. I will not be around later.
Okay boys. Throw out the records. Forget the first ten games. The season starts today. I know the Eagles control their own destiny. But we all know they will not win the division. It’s ours for the taking. We as a fan base has been beaten down over the last 8 or 9 years or so but now is the time to turn it around. Today we move our winning streak to three games. Winning breads winning. Enough of the loser mentality of tanking for better draft position. We win today………go out and shock the world next week in Seattle and we are on our way!
NOW WHO WHANT’S TO WIN TODAY?!?!?!
LET’S FING DO THIS!
Brandon Allen will be the 6th backup QB the Giants face for the majority of a game this season in 11 contests, if you consider Mitch Trubisky a backup.
Brandon Allen will be the 6th backup QB the Giants face for the majority of a game this season in 11 contests, if you consider Mitch Trubisky a backup.
Washington skews things a bit because Haskins was forced on Rivera until it was obvious that he was not an NFL QB. Alex Smith or Kyle Allen would have been the starter Week 1 had Rivera had his choice.
The one exception was the 2008-9 seasn where I really was expecting to win every game.
This year, despite our record, I expect to be in every game despite the opponent. This game I expect to win. I really hope I am not let down, but I have a growing faith in how this coaching staff focuses the team and has a great game plan each week. They don’t always have the players to keep it up for a full 60, but the team has a confidence building.
I would not under estimate the importance of confidence and cohesiveness for a team.
Brandon Allen will be the 6th backup QB the Giants face for the majority of a game this season in 11 contests, if you consider Mitch Trubisky a backup.
This is pointless by ESPN to point out. Trubisky was their starting QB at that point. Also Alex Smith is better than either Haskins or Kyle Allen. That’s three of the “backups” the Giants have faced according to ESPN.
I know this season started like crap and 3-7 isn't usually the type of record to fire me up as a fan.
However, I've just been starved for a playoff race -- it's sucked being in totally meaningless games for the last half of what seems live every season. Aside from Macadoo's first year it's been since 2013 or so since we've been able to really look at the playoffs this late in the year.
It's just a great feeling -- not confusing that with the idea that this team is a world-beater, but man -- I'm a fan and in this crappy year of 2020 particularly, taking the East - -whether it's at 9-7 or 5-11 is fucking great.
Let's blow the doors off this Bengals team. They are in disarray and lost their one ray of hope. Feels like the Giants -- even with TC at the helm -- have often played down to their competition.
I think this stops with Joe Judge. It's time to pistol whip a team that is on the ropes!
B L E S S E D!
Lets fucking go
Just get outta here with a w.
Sheard will probably start, but hopefully we get Brown/Coughlin more snaps as well. We need those two young guys to get more dyamic on the Edge. Interesting move from Judge/Graham.
Thin at TE as well, an injury there could be bad.
Brandon WIlliams and Madre Harper are active and are the back CB, could Love/Ryan play more CB instead of S in case of injury with McKinney back at S.
Still think the Giants need Ryan Lewis/Colbert back soon for depth.
No juice at KR, no juice on those small screen/dump offs cant make anymore miss. Gets bulled over in pass protection. No juice running the football, fumbled once too.
Wouldnt mind Freeman getting his snaps. Would need to replace Lewis at KR. Lewis does a solid job knowing his assignments, veteran presence/leadership, and decent route runner out of the backfield like that play down the sideline. Im sure judge values that.
I was playing around with my dad when he was in the demential ward in nursing home. I would fun around with him just to see what kind of responses I would get and to lighten shit up
I said to him the quote about its Germans and Pearl Harbor
He looked up at me and smiled “ the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor you fuck8ng asshole”
We both had a good chuckle!
Go gmen. Hope we have no lapses, bring intensity, play smart etc. bring home a must win and make it a 5 games season that at least keeps us entertained, hopefully for all of December
He’s on Covid Reserve and out
four runs in a row
What block? Looked like he let his guy get by him then tried to pull him off Gallman
Quote:
Nice drive though
EE isn’t a winning player and I’m surprised he didn’t drop that ball.

I like his hard running style
Quote:

precisely. Everyone else had a good block, EE was rewatching is one catch on the scoreboard
Terrific drive to start. Clinical.
Those type of TDs sting.
He certainly looked to be too aggresive there trying to make a play.
Niko Lalos!
How was that ugly? They had it covered, in fact Tate made a smart disciplined play. Better than DJ in the beginning of the season! lol
I completely agree and Hernandez has been a pretty big disappointment for an early second round pick. Many better players were taken right after him.
Need a stop by the defense.
Also got lucky that Engram actually caught the perfect pass he threw on the first drive.
[quote] looks sharp in terms of his decision making and accuracy, but we need more "chunk" plays. Not necessarily 50 yard passes like the one to Engram, but some that are at least 10-15 yards.
Need a stop by the defense. [/quote
You need receivers to get open to get chunk plays.
WE BETTER TRADE THE SOCIAL MEDIA KING, BARKLEY.
how is that a dangerous pass? It bounced off Tates hands
this
There were 3 tacklers lol, dont be an ass.
3 guys on that tackle. He wasn’t going too far. Their safety played that well.
Too many penalties.
Engram should have run the route a little deeper.
It looked like Jones would have had the ability to really run on a few plays instead of handing it off to Gallman or Morris.
Garrett is the biggest issue with the offense . His play designs and playcalling sucks
His play on first down was more impressive... shedding a block and making the tackle. If he is not there, that is a big play for them
I get and like it early, trying to get a big time play, but yeah we should go straight now until much later in the game. We don't seem to have much trouble moving the ball.
Much needed right now. The offense needs to get some momentum back.
Yup, it's almost like they don't want Gallman to do well bc they know we'll call for a Barkley cash in trade, and that relfects poorly on fatboy Boston boy Gettleman. The kid is a football player first and a real Giant's type of grinder. We want all the social media and commercial whores gone.
Who would have thought huh? Not like we played some of the NFL's best defenses this year.
Should pursue Golliday or bread WR in the offseason.
and 90% of other NFL WR's
Definitely need a upgrade at the position

Because Garrett generally does a good job of knowing when its a good idea to have QB pull the ball. I ran the option, that read was about as obvious as it gets.
Yea he made a FB move. That was a helluva strip though.
I don't care about his athletic skills, hes a bum
Turnovers

Sweet bayby jeebus.
He sure is and someone on here called me in ass for saying the same thing.
He’s much worse.
3-7 football teams coming off a bye don't have trap games.
A player who just disappeared would be much better than a player who actively sabotages the team.
Way more giving than taking.
I am not liking it.....bury this team
because engram is loose with the football
if its tight to your body that doesn't happen.
I'd take Dayne any day over Engram.
I am not liking it.....bury this team

When it’s time to pay him
Same. Just provides at least one disaster a game. We need receivers who can execute. Just bad skill position work game after game.
Cmon D
Oh, and I love Engram. He is just fucking AWESWOME.
We'll we had had success in the past..
Pretty fucking bad.
Completely. Frustrating half of football.
Yea im not familiar with 27 but he's having a piss poor game.
They have given up just three points in an entire half...
What the fuck are you people watching?
The problem:
Our offensive play calling
Slayton's drop
Engram's fumble
One special teams play
Amani Toomer is 6'3"
Graham thinks he playing against Aaron Rodgers I think. No pressure, letting him time to cycle his reads 25 times.
Long game. Trust the defense to limit their scoring.
And who are you trotting out there to replace him????
Hakeem Nicks???

There is a reason why most of Jones INT go to Engram. Aside from the ball fumbling through his hands, he also never comes back for the ball to help Jones out

i know it is hard to see, but that pass to Engram was all on EE. He makes a nice play by making contact with the DB, but then he does not break across the field. Instead, he fades into the defensive backfield giving up position to the DB.
I dont have to be in the locker room this week to know he is going to get his ass torn open for this if our TE coach knows his shit.

He's barely doing anything.
Keys so far is the KR TD, Fleming's penalties and Engram's fumble.
Really? He's playing realllly well. Are you being serious?
You’re simply still not very smart or a good poster
We were in 2 minute
...
Yeah it's almost like he didn't throw a 60 yard strike that went right through Slaytons hands or Engram didn't fumble like a Pop Warner backup. Hot Take though.
You’re nuts. He’s playing really well today
Gettleman doesn't want us calling for a Barkley trade..
no but make a play! you have to make tough catches to win. they are not making plays, that is dangerous.
What ? Jones played well this half. What is he supposed to do if Engram fumbles deep in the Bengals territory, Slayton drops an Easy TD and No revievers are capable of making any plays once their touched
Yeah, hitting a guy in stride is part of receivers picking up YAC. No one seems to realize it.
Yeah because you’re a troll lol. 🤡

Just relax. You have to know these game threads are a place for the morons to expose themselves
couldnt convert gettign 12 on a 3rd and 13 due to penalty.
Jones has to slide more, going head first is going to kill him.
Absolute idiocy. How can a person watch that half seeing Slayton drop a TD, Engram fumble, Recievers incapable of breaking a tackle, play calling very suspect, and still trying to blame Jones ?
The hate is real
Alexander could have easily had two INTs. I agree it seems like the Bengals are sitting on the short routes.
Jones has been very disciplined. He has few weapons.
The OL has played well. The defense has been stout, especially Lawrence, Williams, Peppers, and Bradberry.
Gano is great.
We would probably be losing if Burrow was playing.
Its not on Jones. Even that pass to Lewis could/should have been caught
No, that was a bad throw
Engram and Slayton with huge mistakes also. Amazing that the OL and backup RB are our best players on offense at this point.
Wow if you’re losing faith then I’m gonna get nervous
Someone actually killed jones in this thread which is odd.
Play a better second half and win the game. Let’s go.
The Giants clearly need upgrades at right tackle, TE, WR to get out of the offensive basement.
This guy is clearly Dwayne Haskins, right?
Exactly. Engram is an easy target and there’s no excuse but that was a good play there by Cincy. Engram has been productive today.

I'll give him credit for catching the pass that he should have caught on the first drive. But then proceeds to run 1 yard short of the first down marker on a 3rd and long. Even excluding the fumble...he's a liability.

The season is bigger than one play. He's missed throws at times this year and his receivers have dropped balls and made miscues at well. Losing is a team effort. He's not exactly prime Peyton Manning and our receiving corps ain't exactly Harrison/Wayne/Clark either. Its almost like its a 3-7 team for a reason. Its frustrating but at the end of the day, its a 3-7 team vs a 2-7-1 team with its backup QB. Hopefully they can clean it up in the second half.

Every QB misses throws...the difference is every other QB in the NFL has at least one player around him that is capable of picking him up. I'm still waiting for anyone other than Jones to run for 80 yards on the ground in a play. Shit...I'd settle for 15. Also, even if Jones rarely was accurate, it would be nice if our WR's would catch the balls when they were there...considering they rarely get seperation.
But there's plenty of blame to go round and I don't think Jones is at the top of the list. I'd like to see if Giants can run more in the 2nd half. Don't have numbers in front of me but it felt like we didn't do enough of it in the first.
This^
Agreed.
+1
Peppers needs to catch that punt.
I’m actually sick of the Jones crap. He is not the reason it’s tied today
Thankfully Gano made that 49 yarder, barely!
If the Giants get pinned back here and something bad happens, it’s on Peppers.
that is fine.. our specials have been the most improved in the league this year. Every other game has been very good from a special teams perspective for us

Better to start at 30 than allow a TD

Lol its just a reference to what Mara said back in 2017 when he out of the blue told Peter King that he was getting a bunch of letters and emails from fans saying to not consider ever signing Kaepernick (Eli still obv entrenched as the QB at that point). Obv they were never gonna sign him but Mara felt like offering that up.
The days of ironman QBs is dying out as the Elis of the world age out.
He’s done far too much of that this year. I suppose once Pettis is available he’ll be back there.
Yep.
Hope it’s not a long-term issue.
Defense gotta rise up
Hope it’s not a long-term issue.
They should be able to get him ready to take snaps next week. He would have to limit his running of course.
Need a strip sack or pick 6 down the stretch.
He was already grabbing it on the snap before he came out. I think it popped on that 8 yard run.

I didnt and i knew this was unavoidable.
With a guy as smart as Judge, he had to know that QB running just is not sustainable in the NFL. But they fell in love with it.
And CIN already has two. The turnover and the KR. Yikes.
Not all of us...
Need to see the D get a turnover. They've been really good today but need to take over. A turnover could break Cincy's back.
At Seattle is a tough mark regardless.
Maybe Eli wants to do them a solid.
At least we got out of our own end zone, but the defense is going to have to win this game IMO. We might get another FG. We have to hope that we can someone how win an "ugly" game, and that Jones is fine for next week. The fact that he was able to go out there again is encouraging, but hamstrings are very tricky.

2) Even people who are/were critical of Jones this year never called for him being benched. They don't have a viable backup to intentionally bench him.
Even before Jones went out they couldn’t finish drives. The offense and special teams is responsible

TBF, theyve made the argument that DG sucks because we didn't bring in a legit vet to compete for the spot, which would be a total waste of cap dollars.
Change of pace, but maybe he’s not the right guy to bring in there at this point
The fake, I feel is another story. They didn't get fooled badly. Love read the play. He just couldn't get there quick enough. That said, the outside man on the line crashed hard inside, which allowed the play to develop.
Your shtick is tired. Find something new.

Is the man that was supposed to be a special teams expert and its the special teams that are responsible for this game being a game.
Even before Jones went out they couldn’t finish drives. The offense and special teams is responsible
Penalties and Engrams's fumble to highlight. Slayton also dropped a long TD.
But we have to let McCoy try and win the game. Just running Gallman and Morris is too predictable. I'd try short passes on first down off play action since the Bengals are expecting us to run to try and shorten the game.
Every fucking game for entire series.
Ugh. McCoy. Jesus gotta make that throw

Not mad. Just amazed at the idiocy of some posters.
Equating any criticism of Jones as prefering McCoy is just stupid.
But, where is Gallman is a good question.
are you talking about the play where even a very very bad throw was almost a walk in touchdown? you’d like us to try that?

oh, and in a game where the defense has held the opponent to 3 points thus far.
solid take.
It was a terrible defensive call. Any QB should have made that 5 yard pass
Also, you cannot take Gallman out with Jones out of the game. Thats the 2 best weapons on offense out at the same time. Whoever made that decision is an idiot
Graham the pussy whose D has given up about 100 yards on the day so far. Good call bro.
He hasn’t practiced much with the starters and coming in cold is not easy.
Cmon D. Strip sack!

Dont even respond to him. He has proven to be a total moron with zero knowledge of the game.
Agreed. It was third and six against a backup QB who came in cold in the third quarter. Even a FG and you're still only down by one score. A TD, and it's two scores, with a backup QB who hasn't moved the team at all.

I'm legit glad we don't have meatheads coaching this team. Not sure what the Bengals were hoping for with that blitz either. We are still in FG range if he gets there.
Sucks, doesn’t it?

Right, if Joe Burrow is their QB, it's a lot more of a 50/50 good/bad call.
There is no logical reason. Hes their best player on offense with Jones out. He needs to be out there period
NO MORE MORRIS, JUDGE.

Are you kidding? Force a game changing turnover with a errant throw? Stop a 3rd down conversion. Challenge the backup QB. Hes not fucking Aaron Rodgers back there ya puss.
I would pay Fitzpatrick
Papa said they were wearing their Rush White today.
Clearly Judge’s rotation. He does it literally every week.
Sometimes they are told to fair catch and not run
We are a pick 6 away from losing... which is why we should keep running

Any QB would have made the throw??? The QB literally didn't make the throw bc he's a backup under pressure. Sometimes I wonder if people are capable of thinking at all.
Sucks, doesn’t it?
You’re getting an impressive amount of miles out of your whining.
Yes. A couple of plays

Bench Eli, let’s see Davis Webb, right?
Especially when a first down is going to limit the Bengals. We could have probably chewed two more minutes off the clock
Got away with it. Ref didn’t pick up on it.
JASON GARRET is the fucking WORSE!!!

The Giants need to invest in a quality backup QB. This is the 2nd year in a row Jones has had an injury.

Yea. Have to see who shakes loose but they need someone with some upside.

Agreed. I think we could pick up 2 yards running it. Even if we had a bootleg called for MCCoy there

You might need to change your handle to Beef Jerky. Only name for something so salty for so long.
yes, he was just in last series.

The Giants are winning a game in the 4th quarter to get atop the division, Jones is hurt, McCoy is playing pretty well — and you’re bitching about fans not giving enough respect to your favorite players who’s not even on the team anymore. You’re lame.
Regardless, doesnt mean you throw it 30 yards down the field when you only need 2
JASON GARRET is the fucking WORSE!!!

He's playing pretty well? News to me.
That’s a fumble.

Ha, you’ve been shitting on the giants in all facets all year and I’m lame?! Haha, okay.
Loving it. Looked like he got away with a little facemask tug there
Really just hoping for two weeks at home against Az
At Seattle is gravy, but hard to win that.
Why did McCoy just run out of bounds?
dodged one
Sucks, doesn’t it?
Eli has retired.
Time to stop giving him virtual BJs and find another hobby.
Just because a player never missed a game doesn’t mean they’re beyond reproach when they aren’t playing well, but do you.
Yes!
His playcalling is atrocious
For real. Deserves a Hope J award!
Why are we running an option with McCoy. He could get hurt, and it increased the chance he would go out of bounds, which happened. Just run three times into the line with Gallman or Morris, and kick the FG to get a two score lead.
Yeah, that’s a real possibility. Maybe they bog down and kick the FG for a push.
Cmon D

You, like Christian, are missing the point. You are so quick to run people out of town... doesn’t matter if it’s Eli or Jones. You’ve seen the drop off now from both. If it’s not obvious you’re clueless and not worth taking seriously.
Get some fire out there!
Get some fire out there!
it feels like we always do this
But that was a shitty call.
Giants are still gonna have to get first downs if they recover the onside.
Just a wretched series. Hopefully they can waste one down here at least.
Hope that we can eke this out.
Hope that we can eke this out.
Yup!
I was screaming at the TV about that.
Put this fucking game away.
While not good, it wasn't the playcall. McCoy needs to stay in bounds. THe person we have the biggest beef is, fucking LW with the unnecessary roughing the passer. Stopping the clock and giving them and extra 45 seconds or so.

We get it. You're Eli's biggest fan. Maybe someday they'll give you a trophy.
And I don't care whether you take me seriously or not.
Eli has retired and you never got to see us all "eat shit" during the great comeback that never happened.
Deal with it and move on.
Garrett is a moron
100%. This is the game here. We probably should run it to keep the clock going because three yards is not likely for us.

Giants run 3 times , the bengals get ball back thank to that 1 timeout with about 1:20 l2ft instea of 30 seconds and drive down to kick a FG

Yes Mccoy should have stayed in bounds obviously but the playcall was him running to the sideline which is so mindnumbingly stupid in that situation
Coaching has been awful all game. There are so many instances of it
We have 3 TOs remaining too
Mismanagement of the clock and a whole bunch of questionable calls by the Clapper

Oh, I’ve totally moved on. Now I’m going to defend Jones against all you fucking idiots that think he’s shit.
Giants are gonna kill me today
They looked fine outside of two penalties, a PI that was complete BS
I hope Graham gets his thumb out of his ass today.
Unreal

3 missed tackles!
He should only be in when we have injuries
GGo Defense!
I don’t know about y’all but I’m exhausted.

Fleming you mean
I forgot: we're playing the Bengals.
First place. Crazy!!!
Win the last 3 and the division is ours
They played against a journeyman QB this week and poor Oline. They did what they were supposed to do against this team. Next week in Seattle will be a huge challenge against that offense. We might be capable of sticking with them if we can continue to run the ball
It's about ATTITUDE.
Next week is probably a loss even if he plays. Nothing is guaranteed in this league, but next week will be hard with Jones: if it is a question, he probably should be held back
BBI at its best
