Every game Alfred Morris is playing at least two full drives. It’s as if Judge has a RB rotation or at least has a max on plays he’ll allow Gallman to handle.
I obviously realize the RB will come out for a play or couple of plays here and there. But in this case, it’s Morris for entire drives. That was a particularly bad idea today, IMO- especially once Jones was out.
I don’t think I’ve heard Judge address this so far. Has anyone heard whether there is an RB rotation here?

No question he had a lot of work today. Just don’t quite know why you take him out for drives at a time - whether they are 3 or 10 plays. Some weeks, that doesn’t seem wisest especially with no real passing game under McCoy.
Hopefully McCoy benefits a lot from the week of reps. I’m not sure what his ceiling is. I don’t know much about his play. Hopefully he can hold the fort.

Actually, I had the same question last week in the IGT. Was happy that Morris played well. But, overall, he is a lot slower to get going than Gallman right now. Having a slow developing runner in for large chunks of the game with no credible passing game is a bad idea, IMO. I’ve definitely been consistently baffled by it.
But my main question is whether Banks or anyone has said if they know the plan here. Is it always going to be at least one full series er half for Morris?
This is an annual trend on BBI where everyone wants to give the best running back all 30-40 carries. It doesn't work that way. Few NFL running backs can take that kind of pounding over an entire season, and if they do their careers are short.
In fact, there's evidence that running backs that go over 300 carries in a season are usually less effective the following season. That's less than 19 carries a game.
Really? Is it that common for starting RB’s to sit for multiple full drives a game? Just haven’t noticed that being a frequent thing in the NFL.

When there are other options out there, they create enough space for Morris to get going. When we don't he can't use his power with no momentum. Wonder if you see his carries cut with no DJ after watching film.

That’s not what I’m trying to advocate. My point is that consigning entire possessions to the backup tailback is something I haven’t seen much of. I’m far more familiar with different runners going in during the course of the same drive.
Just have been struck by it as I haven’t seen much of it, and definitely don’t like having designated Morris drives this year.

Before that his game high carries in his career was 18.

Some RBs need to get into a groove and don’t do well with sproradic 1 off carries.

That’s a good point that I hadn’t considered. Makes sense. Thanks!
