Yiadom= Dalvin and Williams

frankmihs : 12/1/2020 12:30 pm
Yiadom has been improving each game since he's been back. At this rate I would not call him a liability, he's probably an average corner progressing to an above average second corner. Does his progression mean we no longer need a second corner and can now spend the money on ryan, williams, and Dalvin? With our needs being ER, Wr, TE, swing tackle.
They still need another corner
Angus : 12/1/2020 12:35 pm : link
Another corner could make the secondary a true strength with 4 starting caliber safeties and assuming Darnay Holmes improves. We also have to hope they can keep Patrick Graham.

keeping Wayne Gallman should be a priority.
Beal
frankmihs : 12/1/2020 12:39 pm : link
Don't forget about beal, I know he's somewhat of an unknown but between bradbury, beal, holmes, Yiadom, X, Peppers, Ryan. That looks pretty darn good.
We have no second corner

worth skipping over the UFA market or draft. Keep trying to get better!
I dont think beal opting out

Is a good impression on himself with respect to the coaching staff. There will be bias regardless of your thoughts it being a health concern - especially if Beal has no pre existing health concerns.

It can also suggest his lack of confidence making a roster?
Yiadom has played better
Jay on the Island : 12/1/2020 12:44 pm : link
But he isn’t someone you want starting IMO. He’s very solid depth but a starting outside CB is still a big need. Best case scenario is that the Giants draft/sign a starting CB while Holmes, Beal, and Yiadom play well. The Giants shouldn’t stop trying to improve the secondary.
I think his growth is due to the coaching staff
JohnB : 12/1/2020 12:47 pm : link
this team still needs a 2nd CB.
Yiadom has improved
j_rud : 12/1/2020 12:49 pm : link
but IMO its still the biggest need on defense. We've been talking about an edge rusher for a long time but they've actually managed to manufacture a pass rush this year. Yiadom would be nice as depth but they need a legitimate starter.
I get the ideas of improvement
frankmihs : 12/1/2020 12:50 pm : link
I am talking about allocation of resources (cap/draft). It will be tough to sign Dalvin, Logan, and Williams while also trying to sign a big time corner, ER, or WR. I don't think you can get all of those in the draft.

May I officially kick off the "Don't sleep on Beal!" campaign?

corner will remain a big need going into 2021.

I wouldnt be surprised if we brought in someone like Kevin King or Chidobe Awuzie and then also took a CB in the top 2 rounds.
Agree
PaulN : 12/1/2020 12:51 pm : link
We need to continue to upgrade the position, but I think adding pass rushers and recievers are a higher priority.
As others have inferred
Gman11 : 12/1/2020 12:56 pm : link
Yiadom still stinks. He just doesn't stink as bad.
Yiadom is about to face one of the best passing attacks
LBH15 : 12/1/2020 1:03 pm : link
in the NFL in Wilson, Lockett and Metcalf. Quite a daunting challenge actually for this guy.

Let's see how he holds up.
Since the middle of the Dallas game...
Big Blue Blogger : 12/1/2020 1:21 pm : link
... the Giants have faced one decent passing offense: the Bucs, with Tom Brady looking old and rag-armed on a windy night. That doesn't make the secondary (including Yiadom) bad. It just means they haven't been tested recently. Let's see how they fare against Seattle and Arizona. Neither team is an unstoppable offensive juggernaut, but they represent a big step up in class.
CB
ryanmkeane : 12/1/2020 1:23 pm : link
is one of the strengths of 2021 draft. Yiadom was really a nice move to get him for basically nothing, but adding a top tier CB would make a huge huge difference to an already good defense. I like Surtain II right now, not sure he's going to be there if we win 6 games (or win division).
we forget about Beal
ryanmkeane : 12/1/2020 1:24 pm : link
and it might be a pipe dream at this point, but he seemingly has that tough physical style that Judge would want in a CB. Add him to the mix next year.
At this point I don't think it's about best player...
giant_thoughts : 12/1/2020 1:40 pm : link
It's about what traits does the player have that the scheme needs to succeed. We're 12 games in I'm pretty sure Patrick Graham has demonstrated this in spades.

What am I saying? I'm saying Yiadom might be our CB2 of the future and we don't even know it.
Cut Solder, Zeitler & Tate.
90.Cal : 12/1/2020 1:44 pm : link
Re-sign Leo, Logan and Dalvin.
Should have plenty of $$$ to do this + more
I was rooting for Beal
MotownGIANTS : 12/1/2020 1:45 pm : link
especially after meeting some of teammates ... they had high praise for him teammate and character wise ... but not taking the opportunity did have me sour on him a bit .... BUT health is paramount and with a NEW virus erroring on the side of caution is understandable ... for all we know he could have a cancer survivor, someone at risk, etc in his house
Yiadom

CB is almost always a priority

Today’s NFL you need 5 CB who you believe could play. You are almost in a base D with 3 most f the time. Problem is there are not that many. We really are in a good spot having 1 excellent corner and appear to have the nickel corner

While he has gotten better, Yiadom is the type of CB you are always looking to upgrade from and have him as the depth
We’ve played 3 straight shitty QBs
JoeyBigBlue : 12/1/2020 2:14 pm : link
Let’s stop making proclamations on Isaac Yiadom.
What I think about Yiadom is...
D HOS : 12/1/2020 2:23 pm : link
He's a JAG or maybe below average who is playing above his level due to coaching. We have a few guys like that on D, which is really incredible... finally!

Imagine when we get more really good players who are well coached and we still have JAGs who are outplaying their talent.
You can not "count" on Beal
JohnB : 12/1/2020 2:28 pm : link
He is a pipe dream, a wish or a possible shot at success but you can't start 2021 counting on Beal added one ounce of production to this team.

He might be successful but planning on it is not wise.
Ask Again After Next Week
Samiam : 12/1/2020 3:40 pm : link
Granted Yiadom has stepped up his game and his last 3 games have been an enormous improvement over the start of the season when he sucker. But, his last 3 games have been against weak QBs and next week, he goes against a very good QB. Ask again after the next game.
I can see keeping Yiadom as a back up --
gidiefor : Mod : 12/1/2020 4:01 pm : link
but he is not a first string CB

It's still definitely a big need
Is Brady a shitty
section125 : 12/1/2020 4:11 pm : link
QB, and how did he do?

Alex Smith is a shitty QB?

Tell you what, I was not impressed by Wilson last night.

But should the hang their hat on Yiadom next year? No. Maybe as a 3rd or 4th CB - a solid replacement. But CB is definitely a place for upgrade.

ER, CB, WR, ILB

Here's the scenario:
-Beal, often injured, hasn't show much.
-Brand new coaching staff during an unpredictable offseason

Im Beal. If I don't make this team...and its likely i wont, given the short window to impress and no preseason game resume opportunity, then my career is probably over. Best option, wait out covid and come in fresh for 2021 with enough time to put a resume together if i dont stick with Giants.
Beal
Gman11 : 12/1/2020 6:41 pm : link
Just hope he doesn't injure himself putting up Christmas decorations or something.
