I was just looking at Eric's thread with the media of assistant coaches. I know it has been brought up before that we only have one coach for DBs, which seems odd for the amount of coaches we have. However, I think this is just one reason, maybe not the main reason but one reason, that we haven't seen any miscommunication on the back end of our defense.
When you think about it, it is quite remarkable with the new staff, new players, new system, limited offseason work, etc. that I cannot remember a blown coverage. I think back to all the defensive coordinators we had and how many times we see guys wide open in the defensive backfield. I know Spags gets shit on here for fielding historically bad defenses but one thing that always stood out with his defenses were guys were always in position to make a play but didn't for one reason or another. It isn't a surprise he is having success in KC right now. But outside of him I think it is safe to say most DC have had that issues on the Giants this century. Kudos to our defensive staff overall but particularly Graham and Henderson for making sure these players know their roles every game.
My point is that Henderson is the DB coach and not just CB or S coach meaning they are all hearing one message.
There is never one answer so I am sure miscommunication is one. Another was Baker last year in terms of him taking his job seriously.
Part of the improved result is imo overall smarts, with Ballantine off the field, great body and athlete, the head has been absent. There is the appearance of cohesion between and among the CBs and Ss, you make a great point.

Got it. Makes sense.
So it's great coaching from Graham through Henderson but also bright and receptive players in the system. That's maybe part of why Baker was never gonna be wanted back, not only that he didn't study but he also starts with less than a full shelf of brains - "dumb as dirt" one of last year's D coaches called him.
Martinez.
It’s not quite the same as “intelligence.” Tom Coughlin likes intelligent players too but he didn’t stress mental flexibility and adaptability the same way.
I love seeing Williams and Peppers playing the best football of their careers and the line improvement week by week. Whatever JJ is selling, the players are buying.

these are both very good signs that we are on the right track.
