Saw this and I was impressed with the reasoning backed up by film. Didn't see it posted here.
First time watching this guy's channel so I have no idea how his opinions pan out over time but I was entertained.
Brett Kollman on Carson Wentz - (
New Window )
I think he's having a year like that one Eli had with picks and everyone here panicked or thought he was nursing an injury. Wentz needs a couple of healthy o-linemen and a receiver or two to step up, and he will be fine. Pedersen scrapping some of the RPO stuff might help too because Wentz takes a royal beating.

While this is possible, there is zero historical precedent for what Wentz is doing right now. The league has never seen a 5th year QB regress like he has. It’s a little bit different than Eli as well because the option route is barely a thing in football anymore.
Was watching Cowherd today and he had an interesting point, and I immediately flashed to a play last night that made zero sense. Sports media in NE is brutal. He’s hearing it all over the place, he isn’t the guy that won the playoffs SB, and his team just drafted a QB in second round.
There was a play last night that he was running 30 yards down the field 1 v 1 on a safety and he tries to bowl the guy over. It made zero sense for a 30 plus million dollar QB with an extensive injury history and guy scored a 40 on his wonderlic. He’s out there trying to be Superman with nothing around him because he’s feeling it. His decision making is so piss poor it’s hard to fathom. The thing is, the situation they are in isn’t getting better till 2023! The Eagles sold their future for that SB, but I think they were hoping Wentz (when healthy) is one of those elite QBs that solves a lot of warts. Personally, I think he’s more a perennial top 8-12 type now and they are fucked for near future. I was a big believer in Wentz going into draft and thought he was an elite QB. Was kind of depressed when Eagles made the move for him. My hope is he gets traded to Colts and wins a SB for them, rubbing it in Philly’s face.

Kollman believes "hero ball" is one of the things contributing to Wentz bad play and he had a couple examples in the video clips.

I agree with this. Wentz is a good (not great) QB who is on a dogshit team with injuries all over the place and a trash o-line. He has been terrible this year but he is trying to do too much because his team sucks. Remember when Eli had 16 interceptions in 6 games to start 2013? Wentz is overpaid and the Eagles have no depth and are an aging, overpaid team all around.
I still think he can win with the right team, and I am glad it is not the Eagles because they are in big trouble the next couple of years.
On the clips shown, Wentz's footwork and body positioning was all messed up. That might be poor technique coming in due to a messed up offseason or it might be a reaction to the breakdown of the OL, thats why it'd be interesting to see if it's getting better or worse.
He was a very good QB, it's not just the protection it's his accuracy and decision making that are his biggest issues now.
