Seth Joyner was on "Good Morning Football" this AM and when he was asked about the troubles of the Eagles, he was pretty blunt in his assessment, and part of it was really going after the coaching and the front office
He feels that there have been two main reasons they have declined since the Super Bowl (and many similarities to the Giants):
1) Have missed on their first round picks recently
2) Have players on the roster staying too long after they have been effective
He called out the front office for ignoring the LB position and then called out the coaches for not realizing that Alex Singleton was deserving of more playing time than he was getting.
You don't often see this kind of frank criticism come from a former player, but he seems to be dead on.
Seems pretty spot on to me.
They left Slay on Metcalf even though he clearly couldn't cover him.
It seems as though players are out of position alot
With the team struggling, Wentz playing really poorly, there's no reason why they shouldn't just be playing Hurts full time if they took him that high.
Missing on draft really hurts teams.
Injuries also don't help teams. They lost a big junk of their OL which has impacted the entire O. Us Giants fans can certainly relate to crappy O-line play killing the O.
Plus, Pederson is not a good coach.
Their defense is playing pretty good.
I’m curious about what the intent of this post is?
Seems pretty spot on to me.
Eagles had the best OL in the league in 2017. Nice group of weapons and a very deep front 7. The 2011 Giants (late season) and playoffs were a better team imo. Better HC, QB, Wr's, RB's and the DL turned it on. The Eagles faced a weak path to the Super Bowl and probably the worst of BB's Patriot Super Bowl teams. No way that Eagles team makes that same run the Giants did.
I do think the Eagles have made similar mistakes though. Extending OL's contracts and then several years of poor drafting. I do not think Wentz at his best is Eli at his.

the Eagles, but they could very well win the division still.

I'm confused..intent of what? I'm just saying that the Eagles are 1 game back of the division with 5 games to go. We are all piling on them, that includes all fo the media and writers etc...but there's a lot of season left.

While I agree with you that the Eagles could still win the division, the Eagles are clearly in different positions than the other three teams in the division. The WFT and NYG are rebuilding, the Cowboys are missing Dak, but the Eagles were a team to compete now and have three wins through 11 games.

Ok. And everyone on the planet already knows that the Eagles are not eliminated yet and there is plenty of season left. Every team in this division has been “getting piled on” all season and rightfully so. Are the Eagles exempt from criticism for some reason?

Which also answers your post above about why they aren't putting Hurts in. They are still alive in a division race. That isn't typically when you sit your veteran to see what the rookie can do.

Reminds him of the Post-2012 Giants teams. The ones that were still a little high from an improbable Super Bowl win, chasing a repeat with the same core and not realizing they were at the end until it was too late.
Seems pretty spot on to me.

I'm not sure Eli ever matches Wentz in 2017.
There should be NO SURPRISE that Jackson, Jeffries, Johnson, Ertz, and Peters have been hurt. They have all had trouble staying on the field. They have an older team and that is what happens.

Wentz looks and plays punch drunk and they're missing so many starters to injury.

This is why the pick of Hurts made zero sense. It's exactly why we don't have a legit backup QB on the roster, it's a developmental year. I fully expect us to bring in a vet until we pay DJ and then start investing 2nd/3rd into QBs to backup. The Eagles are so obviously in rebuild mode they should have been looking for players. They were toast if Wentz got hurt anyway. The parallels between them and us trying to hold on too long are uncanny. Different positions, but same deal.

Let's not forget what they gave up multiple picks to get Wentz, and that trade is looking like a questionable decision these days:
Here was the trade:
The Eagles got: The No. 2 pick in 2016 and a 2017 fourth-round pick.
The Browns got: The No. 8 pick in 2016, the No. 77 pick (third round) in 2016, the No. 100 pick (fourth round) in 2016, a 2017 first-rounder and a 2018 second-rounder.

One of those guys you hated because he played on a rival, but would love on your defense.
One of the greatest linebackers that never gets enough credit. He played the SAM spot and could play the run, rush the passer, and cover TEs down the seam and RBs out of the backfield. He was one of those rare do-it-all linebackers that you rarely see anymore (if at all).
I'm sure its on Youtube somewhere but there was a Monday Night Football game of Philly vs Oilers back in maybe 1991 or 1992. Some of the best defensive hits you will ever see in one game...and plenty of injuries.
Seth Joyner was a monster in that game. fun watch.
