with new owners ... does Arc come back to being Mets fan on this board?
On one hand I understand his logic but on the other hand I still find that to be one of the most curious decisions by a male adult fan of a sports team. The whole point of being a true blue fan is sticking with your team through thick and thin. And he's what I would consider one of BBI's more rational posters. LGM!

I had a friend in 6th grade who changed his favorite teams. Everyone ripped him for it. I can't imagine a grown adult doing that.

I would expect a fickle 6th grader to change his allegiances. In fact, a lot if kids today just root for the flavor of the week and that can be the latest phenom like a Mahomes. A grown adult changing loyalties is another question entirely.
Grew up Giants, Mets, Knicks and Rangers. But grew up in Bergen County, and when the Nets and Devils moved to E. Rutherford, I switched my allegiance to them. My reasoning: if teams are willing to move to NJ, us sports fans who live here should really support them. But the Giants and Mets have always been my true #1s; don't know that I could have moved on from one of them.

He has made it clear that he is sticking with his decision to be a Yankees fan and will not change back if the Mets become a championship caliber team. Obviously he will still root for the Mets too but I give him credit. He received a lot of shit for the switch which I didn't understand. A few posters appeared to take it personally.
I have never met arc in person but he appears to be a great guy. He's one of the best posters on this board IMO and I am glad that he's back posting after taking a long break from BBI.

I would agree, he seems to be a great guy and as I alluded to before, he's always been a voice of reason and very consistent on this board. To me, it appeared antithetical to all of those things thus I was a little more than surprised but people have their own reasons.
Man, I'd hope that nobody actually took it personally.
That would be truly weird considering that most people here don't even know the guy.
Listen, with all the crap Met's fans have been through, if I could go back in time and switch to being a Yankee fan it would be a no-brainer. We seem to be turning a corner but for the past 30 years, this team has been a dumpster fire except for the once-a-decade year that they luck into being good. To switch as an adult is just too weird and I couldn't do it. But good for those who can. Take your ribbing and move on.
The shit talking I’d get from friends and family if I switched teams, and I’d give it back the same if anyone I knew did that. I honestly never met or heard of an adult switching teams, that’s a new one.

Switching as a kid is perfectly normal.
