With Love gaining experience and McKinney now ready,

Ivan15 : 12/3/2020 10:02 am
Do you give Ryan more plays at CB opposite Bradberry and allow Love and McKinney to split time at Safety?

Ryan has done really well at Safety and is doing just what you want a Free Safety to do. He may even be playing at a Pro Bowl level, but CB is the weakest link in the Giants defense and Ryan is most qualified to fill in there.

Is this a good move, especially this week against Seattle’s two very good WRs?
My personal opinion
Jim in Forest Hills : 12/3/2020 10:06 am : link
don't move someone who is playing at a pro bowl level. If Yiadom slows down, they can make a decision, but watching Yiadom improve through the season, I would leave it alone. If they can get Ryan Lewis back to add depth, I'd leave it alone. Right now Ryan is helping them win.

McKinney is a rookie and we will rotate them the way we rotate lineman.

I'm more worried about Lockett on Sunday

instead of Metcalf. I think that Bradberry will do a solid job versus Metcalf but the thought of Yiadom covering Lockett should concern everyone.

Yiadom
Giants : 12/3/2020 10:20 am : link
has stepped up his game. I'm not sold on him but anyone can see he has improved over the weeks. Could be because of better coaching or maybe he realize this is it for me. If I don't show I belong in the NFL it could be over. Its good to see he is improving. Now he must continue to show he belongs
The Giants D can stop the run and keep Wilson limited to the pocket.
Ivan15 : 12/3/2020 10:22 am : link
If they can limit the Seattle WRs, the Giants can keep it low scoring and win this game. If they can’t, Seattle can blow the Giants out. CB play is the key.

Doesn't Lockett play out of the slot. That would be Darney Holmes.

I haven't watch much Seahawks games but I've always have thought of Lockett as a slot WR..I could be wrong though.
I don’t think the coaching staff is very high on Love.
GiantGolfer : 12/3/2020 10:28 am : link
I wouldn’t mess with it right now. Ease McKinney back into it.
No way
LBH15 : 12/3/2020 10:34 am : link
Seattle would scheme right at the weaker Love and rookie McKinney.

Logan Ryan is going to need to play close to 100% of snaps, and do it really well, if the Giants are going to keep Wilson and his solid targets from going off downfield.

Lockett will most often be in the slot, guarded by Holmes. At least in man schemes. In zones, they'll do the usual rotations in attempts to fool Wilson.

I doubt Yiadom would intentionally be tasked with covering Lockett in man coverage...
Peppers
Thegratefulhead : 12/3/2020 10:40 am : link
Put Peppers at moneybacker. His skill set around the line of scrimmage is plus plus. He is a heat seeking missile that can tackle.

That is in essence the three safety look I THINK.
Yiadom
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 12/3/2020 11:36 am : link
I think Judge mentioned Yiadom is developing confidence in what he is doing. Seems like that was holding him back and making him hesitate. Would be great if he continues to develop. Assuming that they find a true #2 next season, having a third boundary that can play is a real benefit.
I see a lot of 3 safety looks this week
nygiants16 : 12/3/2020 11:41 am : link
Peppers in the box, Ryan all over the field and Mckinney or Love as the 3rd guy..

I could see Peppers spying on Russ
I don't think Ryan is a cornerback at all these days
SLIM_ : 12/3/2020 11:57 am : link
I think you can bring him down in the box and match him up as a slot corner but I don't think he is a perimeter guy anymore. You would definitely moving him out of a position of strength which I wouldn't recommend.

I'd be more comfortable keeping Ryan where he is because he is many times the last line of defense and it is easier to call the signals as a deeper safety.

If there were an injury to Yiadom, I would be inclined to move Yiadom outside and have McKinney play the slot.

I'm also excited to see if they can incorporate both McKinney and Peppers as linebackers against the Cardinals or even sometimes the Ravens. Maybe even use them as a spy.
None of the 3 are outside CBs
Biteymax22 : 12/3/2020 12:17 pm : link
Their value is the ability to play deep safety, slot and in the box, effectively allowing Graham to disguise coverages as they can do all 3.

Since Love is getting better and McKinney is back (but still limited) you’d get the most value using them all in multiple roles making it more difficult for Wilson to figure out who is going to be where.

Jay I hope I'm wrong but I completely disagree
Eric on Li : 12/3/2020 12:28 pm : link
Metcalf is a force of nature having an all time season and he is a few flukey plays away from it being even better. He has a chance to become only the 2nd currently active player other than Gronk to go over 16 receiving touchdowns this year. Without the flukey plays he'd be on pace to join Jerry Rice and Randy Moss as only the 3rd player to go over 20.

His numbers against single coverage are mind boggling. I not only wouldn't single him with Bradberry, I'd put Bradberry on him and double him on just about every play over the top.

Lockett is a good player capable of great games but that's the poison you have to pick.

I would double DK and leave Bradberry on Locket 1v1.
I want to see Mckinney declete DK Metcalf

If Bradberry's style was a better fit for Lockett I'd do that, but Lockett is almost all speed and that's Bradberry's only shortcoming.

Holmes has been stepping up so I think I'd actually just have him travel with Lockett. Or if he's matched up with Yiadom give a lot of a cushion. That would allow some underneath throws but should also keep them in the game. Make SEA execute in the RZ and hope you can hold them to some FGs.

Philly actually did that pretty effectively, other than the 200 yards they almost gave up to Metcalf trying to play him 1 on 1 with Slay.
I still think Love stands out as a talent
djm : 12/3/2020 2:46 pm : link
the guy just looks like he belongs out there. He's big and fast enough, just needs to figure things out I hope. I would be surprised if he didn't craft a decent role here for himself, even if I am a clueless blowhard I am sticking to this take.
Love is not a quality safety

Tough call for sure. FWIW I think DK is faster than Lockett. I live in WA State, Seahawks are my second team, lived here for 18 years now. Maybe, we should try and keep everything in front of us with a form of Cover 2. Make them work for it. Big hit on Lockett early would be nice.
This is a game where our defense must stop the big plays
SGMen : 12/3/2020 3:52 pm : link
I believe in our run defense even with Fackrell out (real bummer...) AND I believe our secondary has really, really improved of late.

Wilson can move in the pocket better than anyone we'll face. We must get in his face with timely blitzes and not allow him to get that deep play off or accurate.

This game will be close, I think, as we are not going to go to Seattle flat with the division on the line whereas Seattle is coming off a big win, shorter week, and perhaps may (not likely but perhaps...) come out a little flat? I an dream right???

We win this game and stay healthy doing it I really like our chances for the division title.
