Ok, I said it! Rooting for the Eagles will be hard enough next week....but I want to be very clear....there is no doubt,
I want the Giants to beat the Cowboys....end up 4-2 in the division and have beaten every team and maybe, just maybe taken that monkey off the Giants back. All is forgiven with a 4-2 division record....from me.
Losing every year to the Cowboys and Eagles was getting old....the 1st step to respectability is beating the division rivals.
Yes....I know...the Giants are not ready for primetime. They still have holes and their margin of error is razor thin. Half empty or half full...either way...they are still short on talent.....more corners, more Wrs, better TEs, guards...an edge...maybe even a QB. Ok...so what...go out and win.
I know many are down on Jones.....and it might be more hope then fact....but I thought Jones stepped up today....only to have easy drops, miscommunications and half hearted attempt to complete plays....he got his but kicked and kept fighting. I liked what I saw today.
But the NFL is a results business....him stepping up just to allow others to disappoint....is not acceptable. He needs to get everyone to step up...he must become a leader.
The defense has taken a step back of late...I suspect it has to do with a step up in competition and bumps and bruises on some key players adding up.....we need to few good players to take control, make plays....
Special Teams....need to figure out how to become special, again. Complimentary football.
I sure hope the Eagles beat the WFT...to allow the Giants to play in or out of the playoffs. I want it on them....
I want it to hurt.....if they disapoint.
I want to know how it feels...first hand.
This experience is invaluable for such a young team.
I want to wait a few more weeks before I need to worry about another off-season.
And for those that claim it's a farse, NFC East are frauds..get over yourself.....the Patriots won every year due to a similar course and no one is taking any of those titles away.
I am happy going into the last week of the year...with a chance.....and that is exactly what we have in front of us.
I did not jump on or off bandwagons after Seattle. My feet a firmly planted.
Should they win....probably not....
Now, can they win...certainly.....that is what I would like.
Jones needs to make strides not only in his game, but lead others to do the same....the young OL must become a group that dictate their will on others...Barkley returns to form, with hopefully improved WRs and TEs...tipping a shortfall to a strength.
Add a solid corner opposite Bradberry....and find that elusive game wreaking Edge can make this defense special.
