Giants have renegotiated a new contract with WR David Sills, who was set to become an exclusive rights free agent.

He was poised to have a role within the offense this season after a breakout summer, but ultimately spent the season on IR after breaking his foot.

Great college career

Stranger things have happened!!!
He certainly would have gotten snaps in the redzone with this cast

of characters if he didn't break his foot this year. Legit is probably our best redzone threat and guy hasn't even seen an NFL field!
He's a Power Foward WR

We don't have one of those.

It's really hard to project an UDFA who hasn't played an NFL regular season game, but we do know Garret does like physical , bigger WR's which he didn't have this year.

Probably would have been good for a TD or 3.
If an ERFA has shown any potential at all...

... it’s a good investment to give him a little bonus to lock him in through Year 4. If he amounts to anything, you avoid the big RFA salary bump. And have leverage in long-term negotiations.
he looked pretty good in preseason (such as it was)

hope he has something to add
The Giants "renegotiated" a contract with

an exclusive rights free agent. That is a non sequitur for those keeping score. . If he's an exclusive rights free agent, he has no contract to renegotiate.

Art Stapelton must be getting senile.
It sounded during camp

like if he didn't get hurt hew would have made the team in that 5/6 spot which wound up taken by Board and Mack.

If he's an improvement on back end depth, great, but we still need at least 2 more WRs who are NFL caliber, one of them being a real 1.
Would love to see Sills do well

I follow WVU sports, and always thought of him along the lines of a Joe Jurevicious - great hands, great route running, great in the red zone. Hopefully the foot is healed and he'll be ready to roll.
Remember he was recruited to WVU as a QB so

He’s still learning the WR position and gives JJ more options on offense.
With only 4.57 speed, a fast LB, might cover him, so he's not

going to do it with speed alone.

At 6-3, 211 his size makes him a good candidate for special teams, downfield blocking on running plays, and using his muscle to quickly get open on short yardage plays. Uh, does he have muscle? More importantly, does he have talent? That makes up for a lot of physical shortcomings.
He might be the best backup.QB on the roster,

and beyond that capable of a Taysom Hill type role for Garrett.

Or not. Very good WR at UWV, surprised when he went undrafted.

Glad they’re going to go another round with him . I thought Stills & McLaurin were the wide-receiver steals in that draft . Obviously Mr G needs to address this situation with pointed emphasis but I am happy Stills is going to get another chance .
Thickones!!!

Whatever happened to that guy? Anyway I'm a former WVU alum so I've watched most of Sills college career. He had a knack for getting open, especially in the red zone and could win jump balls. He does not have good speed and I'm guessing that is why he went undrafted. His skillset is something this WR core lacks and I think he can be a valuable role player.

If I remember correctly, Sy liked him and had mocked him in round 5 or 6 to the Giants the year he came out.
