I heard his big mouth all week but when I watched the game not sure I saw him out there outside of celebrating his teammates Touchdown
I’m sure he’ll make me eat my words in the future but last night he was a complete no show
Yea I agree but Reeperbahn in mind we went into the season with Carter, Fackrell, Golden, ximines etc. those guys all missed major time and were a huge reason why the edge defense fell off a cliff. When Downs and Mayo are your edge defender it’ll be tough. So I don’t need to prioritize edge so highly when we have glaring needs all over the place.
the networks have predetermined that they'll hype him up. It's pretty funny. He was invisible in that game. Kind of like w/Jamal Adams in the Seahawks games. He could take a dump on the field and they'd eat it with a knife and fork.
Chase Young was doubled all game long. Arians had Gronk helping out Smith and and a back staying in just to keep tabs on him. Tampa was not going to let him wreck that game.
and let's not forget, lots of low draft DE's took a few years to reach their top end. We can hope he takes longer than Garrett or costs a ton to resign, but few here would be complaining about a #1 pick w/7.5 sack regardless of hype.
I like our pick based on needs, but if we had #2 would anyone here, given hindsight, not picked young? I know our OL is probably a bigger need and D stepped up, but last year we all wanted a rusher.
That makes about 25 % of the NFL "generational talent" it seems. Talk about an either over used or inappropriately used term. Every year there ar emote and more of those guys rendering that term meaningless
Guy talked a ton of shit and really didn't play well. He will most likely be a great player for many Years but let's hold back a bit w these guys.
Finding out Aaron Donald is the best player ever still has me questioning if 2021 is going to be worse than 2020 more than ever
And from what I can see, he will be an excellent player. Whether he dominates or not remains to be seen. I am happy with Thomas (really played well at the end), but I think Young will be really really good.
I think, in general, fans tend to overrate the potential impact of individual EDGE players on games. My formative Giant years were with LT and you almost get a point where you were couldn't believe he didn't make every play. But even he was held in check and had off games. In 86, I seem to remember Banks playing as well or better during the playoffs or at least the SB. Before Strahan helped lead us to a SB I remember thinking he didn't seem to get the big sack when we really needed them. And most of the best EDGE players in the NFL have off games, and even off years. It's a critical position in today's game. But no one consistently dominates and I think our perception is somewhat skewed. The players really depend on their linemates to help create pressure and occupy blockers.
I guess that's why we should try to sign Williams because he stops the run, even when he isn't getting pressure. But he can be inconsistent from game to game as well. Especially before this year. I know there are advanced metrics like pressure, altering pass, etc. And perhaps those undercut my points a bit. But I still think fans are a little unrealistic about the position.
RE: RE: BBI is home to some of the most insecure people I’ve ever seen
Young is a really good player. Never said he wasn’t. My thing is that he talked up a big game all week and did absolutely nothing in the game. Be quiet and humble yourself young man.
Meh that’s Boring. Be bold, believe in yourself! I want guys that care not choir boys.

Plenty of plays where he wasn't being double teamed and the offensive player assigned to him was just handling him well. He wasn't effective.
That said, he's a rookie like Andrew Thomas is a rookie. His performance against the Bucs is not the be all and end all.
I don't agree that most likely he'll be a great player. It's possible we'll see. But imagine how much worse it would be for Giant fans if Washington draft Herbert instead. If they had they'd probably still be playing this week.
These guys are ridiculous. It’s amusing though...
Security or insecurity isn't the issue. Just having different takes based on who is wearing the jersey is.
