Just to restate prior posts, I know a few people in the industry, but none are connected to any 1 team.
On that, I am hearing very strong indications that Doug is out of as the HC of the Eagles.
Take it for what its worth, but one of the main reasons is he has lost the locker room, including burning a bridge with both Wentz and Hurts.
"At the 50! To the 40! And Doug Peterson is running onto the field! He just tackled his own player!"
This seems like a using Pederson as a fall guy and a chance to reboot.
Reminds me of the Giants right before they fired Coughlin. If you fire Pederson, you need to fire the GM as well, he has been terrible
"Yeah we're trying to get a better pick,so uh,go out there and lose the team..*cough*..I mean the game"
On the other hand look at what the Giants did when the amount of backlash over starting Geno Smith instead of Eli hit home. Everyone who in advance had to sign off on the decision was suddenly "stunned and surprised" about what the head coach and GM did so they had to act promptly and remove them etc...
I'm pretty sure if the backlash over the tank was less intense then it would be business as usual and Pederson would get a chance to find the locker room again
Last bit of asshatery, one of the 2 just told me that if Pederson is truly gone, expect an announcement in the next 48 hours.
Losing Malcolm Jenkins wrecked that locker room.
Or Foles...
But we know better than anyone, if the fans/media show backlash towards the decision, they have no problem letter the HC fall on the sword.
We saw it with Macadoo. Like or hate the benching Eli decision, he had ownership's blessing. When the fans revolted, it was old Ben who paid the price.
I don't think we'll ever really know what happened or who ordered the code red....
Not disagreeing exactly, but at the same time the decision to throw the game could still have come from the top down, and then Pederson fired as the FO's scapegoat, no?
It would be like a mafia hitman telling law enforcement on his boss if he was kicked out of the family. It doesn't matter that you were told to do a hit, it is still illegal. The mere fact that Lurie or Roseman may have told Pederson what to do in terms of throwing the game would not make Pederson want to tell anyone because it makes him look bad. So, I doubt if he is fired we will see some great scandal. As many, unfortunately predicted on this website, the story as a national one would be over by Tues/Wed of last week.
In my opinion the most likely scenario is that Pederson acted on his own thinking what he was doing was best for the eagles in the long run and that everyone would back him up. The owner the GM and the locker room but he badly miscalculated.
What a great example of a self destructing post.
if it was wentz pulled for hurts week 17 in a meaningless game for the eagles? sure. i'll buy that.
sudfeld? who the hell is sudfeld? I'm trying to think of a backup QB who sat for more than 4 years behind the starter and became a star but I can't think of any because guys like Rodgers and Steve Young were highly touted QBs from day 1.
Come on FMiC, the simple answer that Pederson would like another HC job in the NFL would keep him from tattle taleing, right? You knew that already...

happen like that - but what keeps Pederson from saying that on his way out and throwing them under the bus??

I'm not so sure of that. If he is negatively affected because of decisions of others, he may very well scream about that. I mean Gregg Williams and Rex Ryan continued to get jobs after throwing people under the bus.
It may not be Pederson's MO, but if he truly was told from above what to do, he's fired and doesn't have a job lined up, he could certainly raise the flag on them
So, he makes the playoffs three years in a row, 1 of them winning the SB. That's pretty damn good.

been poor. They also have contracts that will be problematic going forward.

The GM has been in battles before. Eagles have had several power shifts over the years. Roseman has remained although sometimes in a different role. I think Lurie really likes him.

He’s going to get it out there, but not publicly. We’ll hear reports of it but no direct statement. He needs to get it out there to owners he was the fall guy. That or his agent will be making lots of calls.
This. A tight game against a team trying to win to get into the playoffs is a good situation to get your rookie 2nd round QB some experience and development, not a 6th rounder from 4-5 years ago that you already know doesn't have it.

I think if you look closely at the number, over that span after the SB they are an under .500 team - if you take out sweeps verus the Skins and Giants.
I know that is cherry picking, but I also think that statement as a whole is damning.
They aren't really competing versus the rest of the NFL.
Where did you see this?

Just heard a trade to the Jets was in the works for DOug Pederson.
LOL nope

Thanks, I will try.

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
Wonder if Schwartz saw this coming?
Wonder if Schwartz saw this coming?
...or perhaps Schwartz left because of being tired of Pederson?
It sounds like he would've been fired last year if not for the Super Bowl win.

that shit he pulled in the last game had to come down from the top. No way he acted alone there
If it came from the HC or GM or owner or a combo of them all, they are now faced with a broken locker room and someone needs to take the hit. My bet is Pederson.
Dead on. Whoever it was that made this call, hope it was worth it.
The outcome of the game would not affect the outcome of Philly's season. So, why not let him play?
