Golladay Highlights

eric2425ny : 1/11/2021 1:45 pm
Man, I know he was hurt quite a bit this year, but re-watching some of his highlights he’s like a Burress clone. Would love to see this type of physical receiver on the Giants again.

My dream would be signing him and drafting Waddle in the first round then BPA the rest of the draft.

I just don't see a reason

for why Detroit wouldn't keep him.

I'm interested in hearing that answer.

the same reason we may not want to sign him - too much money for a guy who gets hurt a lot?

They may end up signing him, but living in the Detroit area there is a lot of talk they want to start over and essentially reset the team with a new coaching staff coming in, etc. They may opt to spend cash in other areas such as their defense which is atrocious. There’s no guarantee Stafford is back either. The same can be said for Allen Robinson in Chicago, you would think they would want to keep him but it sounds like they are going to let him hit the market.

THis is the only reason I can get behind - and I agree - is this a risk worth taking if you're the Giants?
He's alway injured

I wouldn't spend big money on him.
I think both guys hold trade value still.
rasbutant : 1/11/2021 2:05 pm : link
Both teams have the CAP room to TAG them, however, what are you accomplishing by doing so? Either make them part of your long term plans or move on. Having the big $$ for one yr on a rebuilding team doesn't seem wise. They can tag and trade, as i believe someone would give them a 3rd round pick. A 3rd round pick this year is better than the prospect of maybe getting a 3rd comp which would be at the end of the round and only if they don't sign anyone. Plus a year later.

Free agency is a two-way street. The player has to be interested in re-signing as well. I think Golladay will likely want to see what his market value is.

They’re also looking at a full rebuild in Detroit. New general manager, new coach, and potentially new quarterback. Maybe he doesn’t want to be part of that rebuild.
Nice video ...where do I sign

Same reason the Steelers

let Plax go. Salary cap league, one teams trash is another teams treasure. I would love to see him in blue.

Well...they could always slap a tag on him...
Go look at the 2:10 mark

and someone please tell me what the hell Markus Golden was doing?
I would love to sign a big WR like Golladay
Everyone Relax : 1/11/2021 3:42 pm : link
then draft a speedster like Waddle. Golladay, Waddle, Shep, and Slayton all of a sudden makes a pretty damn nice WR group.

Add Barkley and a hopeful re-signing of Gallman and our offense would have some real firepower. On paper anyway.
he's a FA this year

for the right price you take a flyer on him

Dreaming that he was lined up opposite Kaden Smith.

He's going to command WAY more than the "take a flyer" salary range.

maybe so -- then I would make it performance based if possible -- I do like his size and he can make tough plays and get open -- I do not like his injury history
An oft injured WR for big money in free agency?
Mike from Ohio : 1/11/2021 6:44 pm : link
That is a hard pass for me. Let someone else roll the dice that he finds health immediately after his big payday.
I like Golladay but in no way do I love him
LBH15 : 1/11/2021 6:55 pm : link
If his injured contract year results in a nice value deal then I think the Giants should be hanging around the hoop.

And not for nothing, quite a few blown coverage TDs in that highlight reel.

Because WR was some forgotten position by the Front Office in 2020, the Giants strategy really needs to have 2 new bodies this year...one experienced free agent that can contribute early and another Day 1 or Day 2 pick that can contribute as the season moves along.

I don't get the idea
kash94 : 1/11/2021 8:23 pm : link
of how he's "always injured."

He had a rough season this past year and missed 5 games his rookie year. 48 of 64 games isn't awful IMO.

That said, I doubt Detroit let's him go, especially if Stafford comes back.
One of my favorite wide receivers
Ralph.C : 1/12/2021 12:43 am : link
He catches with his hands and he catches in traffic. He’s strong and fast enough to go deep. He doesn’t have breakaway speed, but he’s by no means slow.

I’d sign him in a heartbeat but still draft a game-breaker if one is available.
