Doug Pederson is out as #Eagles coach, per source.
He is not that far removed from a SB win and has generally had the Eagles relevant since he got there. This season his team was ravaged by injury, as much or more than anyone, in key areas.
on other hand, Wentz fell apart under him which has to cause concern.
the big question IMO is that last game... we all speculated that pulling Hurts could cost him the locker room and maybe it is that simple. But if we believe that decision came from upon high then why is Pedersen paying the price?
Interesting to say the least.
He's lucky he doesn't have to manage that team next year
didn’t come from top. Pederson full knew the repercussions and hard to believe even a nerd like a Roseman whose been around the game as long as he has couldn’t see this coming. WFT was so bad with Smith that they couldn’t even take advantage of Eagles defense that sat Cox, put a krimp on the plans. Imagine conversations were had at halftime. I remember they came out and ran the ball like 3 times in a row. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Pederson do that.
Probably best for Pederson honestly, that team is in for rough waters next two years. After stink wears off, Pederson may be able fool another owner that he’s a good head coach with a SB and good win loss record. I pity the fan of whatever team that is.

I doubt that week 17 shitshow came from ownership. An owner never wants to lose. This was a coaching decision that ended up costing Pederson his job. It's one thing to try Sudfeld seeing Hurts wasn't exactly lighting it up but after just 1 or 2 series it should have been obvious that Hurts was the only real option of putting the team in position to win.
Great, now they are probably going to hire Bienemy.

Until Eagles get rid of Roseman and rebuild their front office/scouting talent again, they're not a threat.
what Pederson did Sunday night was probably to stick it to the GM and ownership. There's a lot of stuff out there today saying he was fed up with Roseman calling every shot
Guess it was his decision to embarrass the Philthy franchise...
Always have to beware of guys like Roseman and Easterby down in Houston who seem to be politicians, lawyers, snake oil salesman for "football and business operations".
Just because a lot of these owners are rich or inherited money, doesn't mean they aren't easily conned or just flat out dumb.
J/k. It’s shocking that the first coach to win the Super Bowl in that football crazed city is out in just 5 seasons. While this decision was a big picture move, I seriously doubt that this move occurs without the negativity that came from how that final game ended.
I guess the new coach has to be sold on Jalen Hurts.
may have leaned into the Eagles to really consider this move.
What Pederson did that last game against the WFT was a disgrace to professional football. There is no way a game of the significance - especially one changed to prime time - should be coached and treated like it was a game in early August.
I wonder if the guy tried to engineer his own firing

I disagree. It's definitely possible that Pederson pulled that sh!t to get fired. He's looking at an aging roster (Lane Johnson, Kelce, Peters, Cox, Graham, etc) plus a potential disaster at QB, unless you're sold on Hurts and one of the worst cap situations in the league.

Wentz is gone
No they chose Hurts

Had the same thought.

I’ma little disappointed. Pederson proved to be totally outmatched as soon as Frank Reich and John DeFilippo left the organization.
I really thought his coaching style/decisions the second part of the year were essentially to get fired.
Esp when the Jets seemed primed to get the #1 pick.
That team is in a lot of trouble over the next 3-4 years......

Fuck him, we should have won the division WAS sucks. We could have beat Tampa. I hate Pederson.

Instead of 52 yard FG he took an intentional delay of game and punted fuck him he threw that game for no reason

I hope in the grand scheme, the Eagles' decline into an abyss has only just started.

So freakin' weird.
Perhaps Andy advises EB to look elsewhere considering how quickly the organization dumped his other former assistant Pederson even with the ring.
Ouch.
No respect, I tell ya
My thoughts as well. How did Roseman survive this? Pederson had one bad season...Roseman has had at least three.
