Not a college football obsessive but here’s my assessment:
1) his opting out made him a massive scouting risk. I think the highest he’ll go is #15 and more likely in the 20s.
2) not a quick twitch type. A pro body, very smooth, but his quickness doesn’t jump off the screen at me.
3) many of his sacks came from a 3-point stance playing inside and beating the RG. That means to me the Hurricane coaches needed to scheme to create a mismatch, rather than just play him in an edge role and wreak havoc.
4) on the other hand, a talented tackler. In fact, watching him I was unenthused by him as a pass rusher but thought he was intriguing as a standard LB. He has the chance to be a cornerstone versatile LB who gets some sacks but is not a pass rush specialist.
What do you think of Rousseau? (I don’t think he fits with the Giants plans, btw, so this is more a general eval. )
DG was with the Giants when they went pass rusher crazy but that was with a traditional 4-3 base D that Spags innovated off of a bit and that was a ways back. I could see Reese/Ross front office salivating over even just the one year of production just like they did with JPP.
I'd be surprised with Rousseau. Not saying he's not a talent but not sure it's with us and the kind of D and players they're looking to mold into it.
Yep. That's the kind of second level defender I see them gravitating towards in the draft under Judge.
I definitely like Rousseau better than Paye - who does nothing for me - and think he is interesting because he can play a variety of positions. Which makes you think he could be very appealing to Judge who wants players who have variety.
The guy is a giraffe who sort of reminds me of Randy Gregory and looks like he could play TE or the 4 in the NBA. When I watched him I saw a guy who won on his natural ability more than technique. So there could be a lot of upside with NFL coaching.
He'll almost certainly be available at 11; is he worth that pick? He will almost certainly be gone when the Giants are on the clock in the 2nd.

Someone pointed him out this year and, man, what a versatile defender. A coach like Graham would cream him pants trying to think of ways to use him. A 260 pound defender that can cover and rush the passer? Sign me up.

Big fan of Zaven Collins, and I've also been watching a lot of Boogie Basham highlights and love his game as well.
Basham is huge and nasty and has that quick twitch you love from an edge rusher. His only problem is that he's project more to be a 4-3 DE.

I wanted to see him really take it to OTs with speed and power but that was rare. Seem like a big project.
Rousseau probably isn't as good against the run as Shaq, and almost certainly not as good as LW, so I wouldn't go for him at 11.
I mean more in the sense that they are all hand in the dirt players. If we're going to continue using the Buck concept, we're going to want an ER who can play standing up.
Was he a dominant player or a guy who had 3-4 good games
Risky at 11
When was Dupree a one-year wonder?? He played extensively all 4 years in college.

Last offseason i wanted to sign Bud Dupree and most of you said he was inly a one year wonder and did not want to take the chance

Right. That makes no sense at all. Dupree was pretty consistent his entire time in Lexington.
Really? Charlton? Didn't see much variety with him at Michigan...
I said last night that Roussea may appeal to Judge/Graham because he looks to be a player who you can line up in various positions. That's a big deal. Plus, GR has a body type to get even bigger and he's still learning the art of pass rushing.
I'm not sure I see him as a top 15 prospect but a legit case could be made that he's worth the stretch.
Jon - to be fair, Gettleman has drafted guys in rounds 1-3 that seem to have high floors. That was my main point.
