Looks like Doug wanted hurts, the owner wanted wentz. Among other things but I think it’s really interesting that the owner comes right out and says “I want an elite offense.” It’s really refreshing to see those kinds of tangible qualities put right out in the press even though he tried to muddy the water by saying the quarterback was just one of the variables. It’s a major variable and we all know how bad the contract is - But the owners emphasis on having an elite offense and terminating the contract of the only coach to ever deliver a Super Bowl is pretty amazing due to that need

He's a moron.
And if Pederson had his druthers Hurts would have played earlier?
Seems like Wentz play really fell off after it was just Pederson there.
Peterson wanted Hurts over Wentz. Peterson wanted to promote his QB coach to o-coordinator and the owner rejected that because he thought the QB coach should be fired for Wentz's crappy play not promoted.
I remember a bunch of them tweeted in support of Wentz when he was benched.
I think they kind of have to trade Hurts now.
He's a moron.
+1
He benched Hurts as he was trying to rally his team. His actions speaks volumes

Then why did he bench him?

Maybe Pederson wanted to go with Hurts sooner but Lurie insisted on sticking with Wentz...
He's a moron.
Doug gambled on Hurts and had Wentz inactive. If you are going to do that, it had better pay off. It didn’t. Doug goes.
Hurts DID miss that throw in the end zone when they went for it instead of kicking the FG. #80 was WIDE OPEN and Hurts missed him by 3 feet.
Gotta wonder if this was legit a pissing contest btwn Wentz and Pederson. DP yanked Wentz, then when Hurts didnt pan out, Double Penetration decided to Hindenburg the whole fucking thing.
His best role in the short term might be as a Taysom Hill type — a change-of-pace hybrid runner/passer playing behind a pocket passer. (Tampa Bay, maybe?)
How about "I want a championship team"? Lots of elite offense never won shit.
yes.
How about "I want a championship team"? Lots of elite offense never won shit.
That's dead on. But knowing the way other teams are viewed, it will be spun into a positive.
"Look at Philly! They know what they need to succeed in the NFL, meanwhile the Giants have the 31st offense in perpetuity!"
It's no secret that Wentz wasn't popular in the locker room. Most of his teammates preferred that the Eagles start Foles over Wentz even immediately after Wentz's MVP caliber season. His reaction to being benched for Hurts proves what a turd he is.
Those of you who are employees, sideline your company's most expensive asset in favor of your idea of a better replacement. Let us know how management feels if the replacement does the same or worse.

Here are the top 12 scoring teams in the NFL this year: Packers, Titans, Bills, Bucs, Saints, Chiefs, Seahawks, Vikings, Ravens, Steelers, Colts, Browns.
Look familiar? Only team there that didn't make the playoffs was the Vikings. Only the Rams at 19 made the playoffs without being a to 12 offense.
On defense, the Bills, KC, Cleveland, Seahawks and Titans all allowed more yards than us and made the playoffs. The Colts, Chiefs, Packers, Seahawks, Bills and Titans all allowed more points than us and made the playoffs.
It’s not even accurate.
5 of top 10 yards per play teams offensively and 4 teams of top 10 defensively are in playoffs at this juncture. There isn’t some massive imbalance here. Shit if Rams had a QB we’d be talking about them with Bills, Chiefs, and Chiefs on the back of their awesome defense.

So you are saying having an elite offense and a championship team are mutually exclusive or that in the modern NFL having an elite offense is a handicap?

neither. but an elite offense ALONE isn't enough. You need to have at least an average to avg+ defense and special teams to go along with it.
Wentz had a terrible year, but it started with a game where Philly could not block the Redskins once for a 60 minute period. Wentz never looked right after that game.
The Dallas and Philly Olines were totally dismantled by injury this season. I think Wentz will get back to being a player.

Very true. But, it almost goes hand in hand that you need a top 10 offense in today's NFL to win a championship. Looking at most of the past 10 SB championships, will show this trend.
I think you're building a cute little straw man there chris
