NGT; Eagles to interview Cowboys coordinator Kellen Moore

Vin_Cuccs : 1/14/2021 9:11 am
Via Pro Football Talk on Twitter.

Philadelphia tried to hire him as their offensive coordinator last offseason, but he chose to stay in Dallas.

Moore recently accepted the head coaching position at his alma mater Boise State before returning to Dallas with a new contract. Some feel he is the head coach in waiting behind Mike McCarthy.
so Jerry gave him a raise

to keep him from Boise State only to maybe lose him to the Eagles. Nice!!!
So the Eagles cannot read

this would be epic

I vote for this.

An ex-Cowboy with no HC experience coming to the Eagles.

I love it.

Has this ever actually happened? I've heard this thrown around a lot, specially when Spag's was here. McDaniel's with Bill Belichick. But has it ever actually happened?
In hindsight

You really wonder why Dallas didn't just dive right in with Moore and let him officially take over.

It's clear they love him, and let's face it, I know McCarthy has a pelt on the wall but he came with baggage. He was snubbed the year before, he got tons of negative press.

That said, I'd love for them to now lose him to the Eagles and watch Moore subsequently flame out in Philly.
Waiting..

behind McCarthy seems really shady...
It also seems a little comical in this situation
rasbutant : 1/14/2021 9:43 am : link
Mike McCarthy was just hired. It would be like writing a headline saying Patrick Graham is the coach in waiting for Joe Judge. Same exact situation.

Well I guess the difference is one is preserved to be a good coach while the other isn't.

Jim Mora Jr. was hired as a coordinator under Holmgren in Seattle and it was announced he would be the HC when Holmgren retired after the next season. That’s the only instance I can remember.
Eagles seem to want to go the

Sean McVey route in terms of young wonder kid. I would think (although the Eagles tend to surprise) that they go with Moore, Brady, or the Titans OC. They interviewed Saleh but I doubt he goes there. I would not want them to get Saleh, he seems like a Judge type culture builder in a positive way.

Thought that was pretty clear but ok, here you go...

McCarthy and Judge were hired the same year to be coach of their respective teams.
Both teams have coordinators that they gave raising to this year to keep them on staff.

One is reported to be coach in waiting, the other is not.
Why?

Wasn’t our very own Jason Garrett head coach in waiting behind Wade Phillips in Dallas?

Garret was hired as coordinator before Phillips was brought on as head coach, and then he took over for Phillips after a 1-7 start in 2010.
Makes sense if Laurie wants Wentz as his starting QB
Rick in Dallas : 1/14/2021 10:48 am : link
Kellen Moore would be perfect for Wentz. You wonder if Jerry promised him the HC job in Dallas in a couple of years.Should be interesting...

Because Judge hired Graham and McCarthy inherited Moore. That's the difference.
Never know the true motive with the cagey Eagles' FO.
BelieveJJ : 1/14/2021 1:01 pm : link
Could be, they just want to reinforce the Jones' desire to keep Moore at OC and as the next in line HC, right?

I mean, they must have seen the Cowboys' Offense's awesome performance week 17 vs the Giants, right?
