that you wouldnt want to miss if was within a packed stadium, arena or theater that would happen during the pandemic. This would be something that you could not miss and risk it.
I have kids and feel like i need to be a role model to them if not just for my own good or the people I come in contact.
but if you're talking any time in history and i know the outcome now...
then I'd probably say there is a good chance I'd go to USA vs Russia in Lake Placid 1980, the Miracle on Ice game. I'd risk a pandemic to see that, especially knowing my age group survival rate.
I'm in a couple of high-risk groups so my chances of severe symptoms, long-term health problems or death are above average. There is literally nothing that would make me even think about buying tickets until I'm vaccinated. (Which I expect to happen in the spring, given my age and risk factors.)
Sure would like to go to that Giants @ Chargers game next season. But if I'm not vaccinated, fuggedaboudit.
You're risking death every time you go outside and/or drive a car. You're risking death when you go for a walk or go on a roller coaster.
I went to the Bengals Giants game in Cincy months ago. Wore a mask the whole time. Not dead. The people I went with and talked to are nor dead, including License Plate Guy.

Yes, there are routine risks in life. This isn't one of them.
The people who go to events and are find can talk about it. The people who died, can't.
I just can't wait to sit down inside a bar & watch live sports, while yucking it up with the bartender about life/sports/whatever. Yes, I could do that tonight if I wanted to, but I wouldn't feel remotely safe so I'll pass until second vaccine next month.

Actually, it is routine. This is a virus. There are unknown number of viruses in our world. Viruses are routine. Every year. 10s of thousands or more die of the flu. It's routine. Viruses are everywhere, and almost everyone has one right now. Some are deadly, some are not. Some are more deadly than others. On the whole, this one's on par with many that we've seen in the past death rate wise, the difference is that this one is very contagious...which leads to more deaths because a lot more people get it. It's just math...but it is routine.

I agree. This virus will continue to mutate like all viruses do. These RNA viruses will actually get more contagious as they mutate but are typically less deadly when they do. And at some point the vaccine will not be effective. People with pre-existing conditions and the elderly need to take the appropriate precautions. But this isn’t going to just disappear due to these vaccines.
Was I supposed to be afraid to go places this whole time?
I can't say for certain but I would have gone too it if it was still going to happen although my wife might not have let me come home for 2 weeks.
Sports I can live without seeing live. Maybe the US in the World Cup but everything else I wouldn't care about never going again.
So many good concerts missed — this one in particular. I may have gone too although my buddy who got tix with me was like nope even if they said it was on. The wrath I would have incurred from the old battle ax...

So basically you’re saying it’s routine but that it isn’t. What a dumb post.
Nothing. Significantly reduced attendance, there are some things I'd consider. I wouldn't have gone to any Giants regular season games this year with limited capacity, but if they'd hosted a playoff game, maybe. Something like what Buffalo did, I might have been comfortable with. I'm not really sure, and honestly, the expectations for the team even if we'd made the playoffs probably would dampen my interest in going. If we were a real contender, I'd probably be more willing to go. In general, I'd like to be at events, but everything's coming back at some point later this year, I can wait.
Desperately want to have one more tailgate and see the old barn rocking one more time before the move to greener pastures.
Covid robbed us of a packed barn during a deep playoff run last year and is now robbing us of another season. Is it too much to ask to be able to go to a playoff game in mid May if the Isles make it?

Too bad you don't live in North Jersey. The place is booming with "illegal liquor establishments" all over the place.
Yeah, because prohibition has been proven to work.

Outrageous, I know.
Don't you worry, no one was around us for 15 rows because all of the seats were zip tied. Just pretend it's the frozen food section in Walmart.
